I have HIARCS Chess Explorer 1.9.0 for Mac that I run on a MacBook Pro 15-in. 2017 2.9 GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB SSD.

Would I see any difference with the Deep version?

Also, is there a discount to upgrade?

If you are soliciting opinions, I would vote to return to the previous behavior, which for me had the advantage of not calling attention to itself.

Thank you for the tip--I wouldn't have thought to look there for the preference. Setting the slider about half-way is fine for me. By the way, does the animation now seem to slow down as the piece reaches the final square, or was it that way before? (I think it would be better if the speed were unif...

With HIARCS 1.6 (OS X 10.8.5), suddenly File > Hint flashes by so fast you can hardly see it.

Is there a setting somewhere to change it back to the normal behavior?

After upgrading from HIARCS Chess Explorer 1.2 for Mac (OS X 10.8.4) to 1.5, now when I press Play > Move Now (or use a keyboard shortcut or click the hourglass icon), nothing happens--the computer doesn't move. I tried restarting but still get the same results. Should I have upgraded to 1.3 or 1.4 ...

I like the new program very much, but would like to have the possibility of playing black but not having the board flipped, i.e., to have black still at the top (as with Sigma). HIARCS 13.1 (OS X 10.6.3) put my Hiarcs13MP.lic and Hiarcs13SP.lic files in my Home directory, without an enclosing folder. I then moved them to Applications>Sigma 6.2 HIARCS 13>HIARCS. Is that the best place for them?
