I would really like to be able to use Hiarcs as a memory aid for opening variations. That is, I would like to be able to set up a game with an opening sequence plus variations, and then play against Hiarcs, with the engine choosing one of the variations and letting me how if I pick the incorrect rep...

For me it was only the font issue, not the animation one.

Feature Requests

Hi Mark: This may be too complicated considering the standardized pgn format, but two things would be really nice to be able to do with our databases: 1. Drag re-order games in the database window. 2. Have a field for comments about the game in addition to the existing fields (names of players, date...

summary of captured pieces

Is is currently possible while playing a game or moving through a saved game to see a list or graphical representation of the pieces that have been captured?

New Game templates?

If one wants to regularly play a collection of openings (QGD, Sicilian, etc.), is it possible to set up a collection of opening templates, so as not to have to choose the opening each time from the pull-down menu for new games?

Yes, I am running 10.8.2 as well. I will see if there is a difference for me between launching with a database as opposed to simply opening the application.

Online Tournament Book not appearing sometimes?

Hi:
is anyone else seeing this situation? Sometimes the Online Tournament Book does not appear in the Source pulldown menu of the Opening Explorer.

On a related topic, what is the likelihood of Hiarcs having a database the size and scope of the Chessbase Mega Database (more than 5,000,000 games)? Or is there in fact a way to use that database with Hiarcs?

Best,

Michael

search for games from a given position

Hi: This may already be possible, but I don't know how to do it. Let's say I am at a certain position in a game, and want a list of all games with that position in the database. Then I would like to be able to sort this list, say, by ELO, player, date, white/black, next move, etc. Is this possible? ...

Re: comments

You can already add start comments on a variation, these comments appear before the move. New variations on the main line do get started on a new line as far as I recall. Subvariations (variations on variations) are not started on new lines. We are looking into using indents for variations, previou...

comments

It is nice to be able to add "start comments". It would be great to be able to enter them before any move, so that the beginning of a variation could be labeled. It would also be very nice to be able to force a variation to begin on a new line in the notation. This way one could more clear...
