I'll try it today but I doubt it will really change it's rating by 2 Elo after each game.

"So, Elo rating was created for people who play mostly in Swiss tourney and best way to simulate a Swiss tourney in Hiarcs is to play every game setting Hiarcs to match your present rating. If you do otherwise, it may happen that your rating starts not being accurate." Do you realize that...

Hi Mark, I think there are 2 ways to look at rating a player. While it's true I'm playing the same engine (Hiarcs) all the time, if I change the rating of the engine then it's like playing a different opponent and not a 100 game match anymore. The reason i did not change the rating of the engine is ...

Thanks for the response. I'm just used to the "smart move" function in other GUIs and I like it because it saves time. This "guess move" thing seems more like cheating than anything else. It usually guesses the wrong move for me anyway so I will turn it off. So for the rating fun...

What I don't like about Chess Explorer

I don't like the smart move function or whatever you call it. The only smart move function that makes any sense is when there is only one move to a unique square, left clicking on that square should cause that move. also when clicking on a piece that has only one legal move should cause that move. T...

I get the general idea but google translation is terrible. Wish someone could do a better job.
How proud I am that I was banned from their website several years ago.

What kind of formula are you using to compute my rating. I've played almost 100 games and when I won my last game my rating went up 2 points. :?:

I've had my Droid phone for a week now and I must be honest, I love the Hiarcs engine but price will determine if I purchase it or not. The DroidFish (free) is very strong but lacks features and Shredder for Droid (Less than 10$) is not quite as strong but has some nice features. Both programs could...

You may be right, I just don't know. There are 3 engines: TheKing333,TheKing350 and TheKing350_64. Seems logical that both the 32bit version of TheKing350 would use multi-thread but it does not on my computer. Also seems strange that cpu usage is only 37% instead of 50%. Maybe he is only using 3cpus...

I think I found the problem. Under "Preferences/Engines" you have 3 choices of which engine Chessmaster uses (Low,Med & HIgh). The High selection uses The King350_64 engine. That's the one that uses multi-threads. Even then my cpu only shows 38%.

Thanks for the info. As I said, mine is using only 1 cpu/thread. When I bring up the task manager it shows ChessMaster is using only 12-13%% of cpu tiime. Rybka shows 100% with 8 threads. I don't know what to do to make Chessmaster use all 4 cpus but it doesn't. Any hints?

You must have a different Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition than I do. Mine only uses one core..

Another nice draw! I stopped the game because Chessmaster is using EGDB and has a draw score. Shredder was showing around +4.6, Note that Shredder Droid does not "Ponder". [Event ""] [Site ""] [Date "2010.12.11"] [Round ""] [White "ShredderDroid...

The Chessmaster rates itself at 2966 on my laptop. It's not a real fast laptop but has 4 cpus. Of course CM cannot use but one cpu.
Shredder Droid seems much stronger than Hiarcs 12.1 on my 200Mhz palm. My Droid phone is 1Ghz I think.

The Great Escape

Here is a game between ShredderDroid on my Droid Incredible phone and Chessmaster GM Edition on my Laptop (i7). Shredder was getting beat pretty bad and then..... [Event "?"] [Site "?"] [Date "2010.12.10"] [Round "?"] [White "Chessmaster"] [Black &qu...
