Hi ! :-) I noticed there are two copies of Chess Explorer installed: the first one is placed in a folder called HCE, the second one in a folder called HIARCS Chess Explorer. I have no idea why since I installed the software just once, but ... the interesting part is that the executable in HIARC Ches...

Hello, same problem here (Windows 10 Anniversary).

The app actually crashes the kernelbase.dll:
Exception code: 0xe06d7363
Offset error: 0x000eb802

It should be related to a driver / service, since this does not happen when working in safe mode.

I tried with a bunch of freewares (Arena, Tarrasch, ChessX, Chesspad ..)
Just Scid vs PC handles UTF-8 properly.

Fixed.

Accented letters are store wrongly in pgn files.

For examples "è" is saved as "è " and ò as "ò".
They are display correctly in Chess Explorer, but not in other programs.

Is there a way to fix it ? Maybe a setting in my system ?

BUT

It should be helpful to disable the auto-suggested move: I'm using the software even as analysis board for correspondance chess games, and I don't want to cheat.

When you click the left mouse button on a piece to move it, Guess move will colour code the destination square highlight to indicate move quality.

Does it work ?

The only color displayed is yellow, that is the suggested move.
Where are green (book move) and red (bad move) ?

Would be possible to load zipped PGNs ?

.. just wondering whether is possible to perform the analysis at a certain Elo or not.

It could be interesting knowing the lines HIARC would have preferred when playing marginally better than my current level.

Sometimes I don't get the idea behind a 3000 Elo move ..

I realized the option is missing in uci properties but pops up when the engine is launched to play against.
