Re: How to convert ChessBase Mega/Big Database on a Mac
I‘m not sure. I first created an „archive“ (.CBV) of the MegaDatabase in ChessBase (of course it crashed on the first try). This is a single file. And then I opened this file directly in HCE. It‘s a bit more than 2GB, 2.3 I think. It sounds like you had access to ChessBase and Windows, which is con...

Re: Megabase updates with HIARCS Pro
Looks like you're right. I'm a Mac user and just learned the hard way that Chessbase only offers these purchases as .exe files. Ah well, back to Caissabase I go... :) NO!!!!!!!!!! Don't go back to Caissabase! I've started a new topic that explains how to open and convert ChessBase's commercial data...

How to convert ChessBase Mega/Big Database on a Mac
There's understandably been some puzzlement over how to use one of ChessBase large databases, such as Mega Database 2022 or Big Database 2022 , on the new HCE Pro on a Mac. In particular, the puzzlement arises because the downloadable installers from ChessBase are .exe, which can't be directly execu...

Re: Megabase updates with HIARCS Pro
I assumed that it would be impossible to get the upgrade through HCEPro. When you look at the page for Mega Database 2022 Upgrade from Mega 2021 , it says, in red letters, " Serial number required (MegaBase 2021). " That suggests that some facility very specific to the ChessBase ecosystem ...

Re: An open source DGT driver for macOS may be available!
I just came across this post ... https://www.warnemuende.cc/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1667 and toward the bottom, it links to: http://dgtnix.sourceforge.net/index.html Just pointing out that I ran across that same link to that project, in March 2014! It's not clear that anything has happened since that...

I've started a new topic at the root level of "HIARCS Customer Support & Announcements":
Come and get it! HCE Pro is finally here!
I suggest we move the post-release discussion to that new topic.

Come and get it! HCE Pro is finally here!
The new generation of HIARCS Chess Explorer, namely HIARCS Chess Explorer Pro for Mac and PC is now ready and available to purchase.
See https://www.hiarcs.com/chess-explorer-pro.html
I've been beta testing it for a few months now, and I'm super impressed.

Thanks, Vincenzo and Michal! I've contacted Chessify about the situation, and I'm waiting for their response.

Re: Making HIARCS compatible with Chessify cloud engines
Actually I believe you already can do this. Install the "Chessify" cloud engine 2.0 on your machine. Open HIARCS and add 1 or more of the cloud engines like you would a normal engine. When you go to use the "cloud" engine in HIARCS the Chessify sign in will come up and you shoul...

Making HIARCS compatible with Chessify cloud engines
I realize you're focused on getting NextGen out the door, but I still want to tee this up on the to-do list: Please do whatever it takes (e.g., coordinate with Chessify) to make Chessify's cloud-based engines accessible from within the HIARCS application Background: ChessBase users automatically hav...

Maintaining such database requires significant effort, so at the moment I cannot tell if we will be able to offer it. … Also, if you already own some database in ChessBase format, you will be able to open and convert in in NextGen HCE. This was already tested by some beta-testers on Megabase. Thank...
