Although I did visit the last remaining I.C.D. retail store not too long, I haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting the new owner, Quentin. When Steven Schwartz founded the business way back in 1978 (the dinosaur days), it was the only shop if its kind in the area selling all major brands of schachc...

I hope he is fine enjoying his retirement. I bough to him, along the year,s lot of things, but just software, a board, thi...

Re: Yes, the Horror....
The horror of seeing the death of chess comps I have had just a few times, no more....I had two Fidelity 9 comps, both failed, both I sent to an electronic repair expert and from both I never heard a thing after that, looks like the guy died and that was all. There is also a hand held unit, now I r...

Great historical schachcomputer gift giving anecdote, Fern! An interesting synchronicity is that my very first schachcomputer, also a Fidelity CC7, came through largess also. It all started back in 1977, when a longtime childhood friend from a very wealthy family was leaving. We had gone to school t...

Re: Rev II AN ...A Unique Attachment/Add-On For A Unique Fea
The Novag Robot Adversary's "Emotions" feature is unique to the Robot and never seen again (or should i say ..heard again) in any other chess computer when the computer thinks its wining or losing it emits a serious of shrieks and whistles and waves and sweeps its arm across the board Emo...

Your Final Choice
Due to a tragic computer/electronics malfunction, an airburst nuclear missile barrage is imminent. Being one of the lucky few, you fortunately created a completely self-contained deep underground shelter with enough safe air, food, water, etc. to last for the rest of your natural life. You’ve packed...

I play always Ruy Lopez, exchange variation, to get rid of that nuisance which is the king bishop playing too many moves and finally cornered and most un-useful most of the time. Then my pawn chain is kept most of the time in white squares and so the black queen bishop has no much action. And then ...

After playing millions and millions of games... AZ has decided that will NEVER open with 1.e4 it considers its winning chances significantly less then opening with 1.d4 or 1.Nf3 ..it opens with 1.d4 about 70% of the time and 1.Nf3 30% for some reason I find this amusing as it could be construed as ...

Re: Rules of operation for dedicateds (physical)
Personally i wouldn't worry about it too much my matches are always 1 min/Avg as long as you stay at the board for the entire game then the fact that each side will get an extra second or two to ponder really makes no difference if on the other hand you make a move for one computer ...then go and m...
