Change default location for PlayedGames.pgn?
How can I change the default location for PlayedGames.pgn? (I'd like my PGNs all to live in a Dropbox folder rather than under the Hiarcs directory.) Thanks.

time handicap in hiarcs for ipad?
How do I set a time handicap in Hiarcs for iPad? E.g. I'd like to play a "30 minute game" and give the computer just 1-2 minutes. I see how to do this on my Mac Hiarcs, but not on the iPad.
Thanks.
Thanks.

install on multiple laptops?
I have two Apple laptops - the old one I use at home and the new one I use on the train to work.
Does my license allow me to install the Hiarcs UI on both machines?
Thanks.

other Mac chess engines for Hiarcs UI?
For the moment I'm using Hiarcs on a Mac mostly for ending study/sparring, and I wonder whether it might always play a given ending in an idiosyncratic way which (even if best) does not represent all "styles" of defense. To vary my opposition, what are some other chess engines (if any) tha...

I have tried 3 times but I am unable to reproduce this issue. Every time HCE is spot on at move 50. Could it be possible you pasted a position that already had the half clock set? Positions are stored in FEN notation and FEN includes a half clock number which represents the number of non pawn non c...

how to "always open this database"?
Is there a way to specify: "always open this/named database" or "always open the databases that were open when I last closed Hiarcs"?

how to turn off resignation offers?
How can I turn off Hiarcs' ability to offer to resign? (Seems like a bad feature in principle - it offers to resign in situations where the opponent may have no idea how to win, like the B+N v K ending.)

Audio interface to Hiarcs for blindfold play?
Will Hiarcs (on the Mac) one day have an audio interface to enable true blindfold play?

It's hard to quiz myself when the answer is visible right under the problem diagram. (In fact, I'm surprised how many otherwise interesting chess puzzle books get this wrong.) I'd like to be able to print the diagram straight from Hiarcs, and then I can write the answer on the back of the printout. ...

What is the purpose of just printing the position, is it to set quizes from game positions or something else? Yes, exactly that. To set a quiz from a position. Right now I am practicing the B+N mate, and I'd like to save the key positions that repeatedly trip me up. I realize there are many other p...

how to print a position
When playing through a game I sometimes want to print out the position on the board as a memory aid. How do I print the current position and only the position - not the accompanying moves of the game? The Print menu only wants to print out the entire game. This must be obvious, but I don't see it. T...

how to start by default from [current position]?
When starting a new game with Command-G, is there some way to set the default dropdown choice to [Current position] rather than [Starting position]?
Not needing to click to [Starting position] every time would be a small convenience when repeatedly loading endgame positions from a database. Thanks.
