Re: Prestige Challenger

Hi everyone, Was looking for some advice in repairing my beautiful chess computer. The problem seems to be that since this has magnetic sensors on each of the squares some of the magnetic relays are not working. I tried looking on the internet to see if anyone has the ability to repair the relays b...

Hi all, as previously mentioned, I made a graph based on Khmelnitsky's data displaying how chess skills typically evolve from weakest to strongest players. Be aware this is based on average data, so we must not take it for granted. Nevertheless, a rather interesting graph: http://tibono.free.fr/res...

Re: Khmelnitsky test

Hi, maybe some would appreciate reading about the Khmelnitsky test I performed with the Millenium King Performance and the Fidelity Excel Display 3Mhz. Now I will take a rest before testing other computers, as it is a very long process :D That is a lot of work for each computer tibono! Just last mo...

Re: The remarkable Tiger Chess Grenadier

Friends, Before I explain the remarkable part, a short story. I recently acquired this rare beast after several failed attempts. It's the only machine programmed by Dollinger, so I coveted it. It's taken the better part of two years. I kept getting killed in ebay auctions, so I finally pulled the t...

Re: Future average Joe player dumber or smarter?

As you might know I had recently evaluated rated chess players using Lichess from 1400 ELO up to Super GM Level. Let me explan more, unless you are a professional chess player or a super rich person who does not have to work, time for a hobby will always be limited. Yet in the past, 30-40 years ago...

I think the GK 2100 is a decent fit here, and it's not too hard to find for low-end money. Nice big board, reasonably big opening book (30,000), options to vary it, selective search vs brute force, and it plays a good tactical game. The machine sometimes gets dragged a bit on this forum, simply bec...

Yes, I should have mentioned that I am looking for feedback on Computers above 1800 ELO or close to that. I do have the Fidelity Excellence, not sure if I have a Sensory 9 but I do have a Septennial--and I do have the CB16 module. It completely slipped my mind about the openings module, thanks for j...

Best dedicated computer for practicing openings?

Specifically looking for opinions on battery operated dedicated computers. Some come to mind to me, specifically Novag Diamond II, Star Diamond, and Turbo King. I have these in hand, any others come to mind? Computers with lots of variation in the opening?

Opening drills regards,

This topic is timely, thanks Reinfeld! Just recently I decided to expand my chess openings to include the Tarrasch Defense when responding to d4 playing black. Using chess engines and stronger dedicated computers yields many different variations. Older dedicated units are not up to date on opening t...

Re: Garry Kasparov teaches chess

What do you think about this idea? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7M3-84jaMQ https://www.masterclass.com/classes/garry-kasparov-teaches-chess At $90 it isn't too much money and it is Garry Kasparov, after all. I guess chess lectures from Garry Kasparov would be interesting if nothing else. He did...

Re: Fritz-Do you use deep position analysis?

I have Fritz 10 and often use infinite analysis but never DPA. Do you use it and why? I have Fritz 13 and used to use it for analysis but now use Stockfish exclusively. Stockfish is free, used by GMs for analysis, and is much stronger than Fritz. Regards, Brian B That is not my point. Do you use de...

Thank you Fernando, that was a fun test! I think I should have started this morning instead of just before bedtime last night, ha! I was pretty tired toward the end of it as the positions seemed to get very challenging as the test went on, for me anyway. Scored a 2163 elo rating, and since I am spen...
