It's difficult to compare because the size of the icons in your sample doesn't match the size on my screen. Overall they look perhaps a little less jagged but that is because of more softness. They don't look crisp like the pieces on the board do.

I can confirm the same on my M1 MacBook Pro. The icons are pixel doubled up on retina. If I drag the app onto my non-retina 1440p monitor, they look the way I would expect them to look.
