It doesn't matter which type of connector you are using.
Don't connect your tablet USB power cable on USB hub, it won't work.
You have to use something like this:

Yes I tested it a year ago with a powered USB hub and worked with no issue.
Try to use a powered USB hub, it should solve your problem.

Are you using a long cable?
Have you tried to use a powered USB hub?

You might need to adjust the sensitivity level on your DGT board.

The Sparc manual states that the super strong tournament book can be activated be selecting level F1 through F8.
