Re: Al (Scally) Cooper RIP

Very sorry to get this news. Al got me started with Picochess and the DGT Pi..I just played a Pico game...and thought of him. I was about to email him, to see how he was doing, but did an internet search and found this out.....Very sad. When Al would compile new engines for the Pi, I would evaluate ...

Non matching serial numbers between the box and the game. Curiously they are consecutive numbers...

Weiss 1.2 Normal 4 cores vs CM9000. Wanted to take a second look at Weiss, this time with a less "Exotic" opening book: the Pro Book. A Reti: KIA that initially is pretty even. But, then CM 24. .. Nfd7?? gives Weiss 1.2 the opportunity to calculate a Queen trap and Weiss finds the continua...

Weiss 1.2 Normal vs CM9000. Weiss (4 cores Normal, White pieces) calculates a very good draw after being hamstrung with the Polish Opening. After Weiss move 48. Re1, SF eval on iPad claims Black has a -3 lead. 32 moves later, I called it after 90.Kh5 Kf2 and SF eval, still, claims Black has a -3 lea...

RubiChess NNUE 1.9-dev update (Brain) vs CM9000. I forced a repeat of the previous CM/RubiNNUE opening (Oct. 8, Bird's Spanish) to make an apples to apples comparison to see what this updated Rubi looks like (Previous Rubi won that one). Here, updated Rubi varied early, with calculation 7. .. Bg7! w...

Rodent IV v0.32 Brain vs CM9000. Nice job Rodent4 on Pi update: a good win and FF to mate (no Pi lockup).👍👍 A French and Rod4 quickly capitalizes on CM 10. .. Ba4? (SF says Bxf3) and maybe 14. .. Nb6 (SF: Bd6). However, some weaker moves by Rod4 allow CM to equalize by move 3...

MagiC-engine v1.0 Normal vs Tasc R30 2.2 Previously, Magic (2193 CCRL Blitz) was overmatched in testing against CM9000 (last game, on 8/6, a 25 move whooping). Against, 2356 Tasc (Aktivschach) this should be a dead draw. Oops....Magic has a rough time in a very tactical..."D17 Slav: Central, Pi...

Igel 2.8.0 CUSTOM Brain Despite an exotic "Anderssen" Opening (1. a3), Igel quickly dispenses with CM9000...SF eval says 17. .. b6? is Game Over, however CM's problems already started with ill-calculated 10. .. 0-0-0?: Bad Move, right into Igel's wheelhouse. Igel is FF on the Pi and is now...

FabChess v1.15 vs CM9000. Very nice game, Fabchess....which was handicapped with the "Mieses" Opening 1.d3 d5 2.d4; the opening that says right up front: "Here....here's a tempo....free....go ahead.....just take it". Fabchess, about a month ago, lost to CM in a Polish Defense los...

Ethereal 12.75 (POPCNT) Brain Ethereal update is very strong: has a win after sucker move 23. fxg6....CM falls for it, 23. .. Bxa2??? Game Over. 23 moves....starting from a "Clemenz", 1. h3? Ethereal update is FF on the Pi. However, some new "timing" in Brain mode leaves much to ...

Got some time, one more: Demolito 2020-10-10-dev Brain 4 cores vs CM9000. Drawn. I may have to rethink my CM9000 on PC, Elo rating...which I peg in the 2600-2700 range. In the below game, CM9000 not only goes toe to toe with Demolito, but actually has a consistent 2 pawn lead after Demo 20. Qb2? Dem...

Combusken 1.3.1 Normal Combusken update is FF on the Pi...and does win over CM9000, but I've seen Combu calculate better (see 9/2/20 post, a page back). The Anderssen (1. a3?) and short story: CM9000 has a draw for pretty much 36 moves. In fact, after Combu 21. exd4? (Nd4 or Ng5), CM has a very dece...

Beef 0.3.6 Previously.... Beef had a very long game, but eventually won against CM9000. Same drill, but Beef is White. The Exotic Book responds with the Alapin-Diemer Gambit in response to CM playing a rare French....fun stuff, something different. A draw. It took Beef just about 40 moves to equaliz...

Stash v21.2 Was about to give this Stash update a laugher against a tabletop "jobber": Atlanta (the Atlanta buttons need some exercise).... as Stash has always struggled (lost) against CM9000. However, I just quickly checked CCRL and Stash 21 has made a HUGE Elo jump: +250. I think this ve...
