Re: Manual for Yeno 540XT in English Wanted

Lars To test take-back I selected multi-move level and then moved all the pawns one by one, one square forward so that the all the white pawns were on rank 2 and all the black pawns were on rank 7. Repeatedly using take-back moved 6 black and 6 white pawns back to their original squares before sound...

Re: Manual for Yeno 540XT in English Wanted

Lars Thank you. I have downloaded the file and it describes the features that I could not work out - e.g. the "learning mode". Can I suggest that you offer the pdf to Alain Zanchetta for inclusion on his web site. The manual sates that take-back is limited to 5 ply. I find that my 540XT ca...

Manual for Yeno 540XT in English Wanted

I have just acquired a Yeno 540XT from Ebay but without a manual despite what the seller stated. Does anyone have a copy in English? It is very similar to the Lexibook Chessman Elite but the 540XT has extra features due to it having an LCD. I have done a web search and Alain Zanchetta's web site has...

HI Nick

Do you have Alexandra (model 909), an Alexandra the Great in Saber's clothing?

Re: How many of us are there?

+1 in the UK I have over 40 working chess computers but if I just consider tabletop models and ignore duplicates, clones and weak toys then the number drops to 18. I have tried to acquire chess computers written by a variety of programmers. So far this includes de Koning, Lang, Morsch, Morsch, Kitti...

Re: Novag Star Aquamarine manual

The Star Aquamarine seems to have the same program as the Carnelian II for which there is an English manual on Alain's web site.

Re: Seeking information on the Krypton Meteor program

I am not sure that the Stiletto is finding a mate in 3. Consider the following white to move, mate in 3 problem 8/8/5Q2/3K4/1kp5/8/8/8 w - - 0 1 On level 72 the Systema Aquarius (similar to the Stiletto but with the addition of draughts) seems to solve the mate in 3 by playing Qb2. If black replies ...

Gerardo Thanks for the clarification on the baud rates. It simplifies matters having the same transmit and receive baud rates. The manual for the Super Nova states "The transmission Baud Rate is permanently set to 9600." there is no mention of 1200 baud. I now need to make up a new lead. B...

Thanks Gerado. I have being trying to connect to a Super Nova using a Casio FA-100 interface (converts RS232 to TTl for old calculators and digital diaries). It worked fine for receiving games and board positions but not for sending commands. I now know that I need to transmit at RS232 levels and ju...

Sorry, I did not make it clear what I wanted. I would like to know the settings actual used. For example the Carnelian II has two 30 sec/move level. A fxed 30 sec/move (WA7) and an average 30 sec/move (WE7). The RS 1680X has four 30 sec/move settings: normal, brute force, passive and aggressive. The...

JeffB I have considered the Centaur but it is a lot of money for a chess computer with just three levels of play. If the adaptive levels work for you then all is well. If they do not then you are scuppered. With the similarly priced King Performance you have various ways of setting the strength of p...

bikemartyn Thanks for your comments. I do have the Explorer Pro and I find it too strong even after turning ponder off from the hidden menu. Consequently I have largely ignored anything above 2000 ELO. I can play against the Novag Zircon and Radio Shack Mega 2050X but only on the lower average time ...

Millennium Europe Chess Master II - any good?

I would like to know if this is a toy or is it a half decent weak machine? I am after a weak (1400-1500) table top that has fixed time game levels (i.e. 10 mins per player per game). I have plenty of stronger machines with these levels but as I am under 1400 they do not give me a good game. The only...

Monsieur Plastique played the Bullet against the Cavalier in 10 games at 40 moves in 2 hrs and the Bullet won 6.5 to 3.5 suggesting a rating in the low 1500s. I have played the Portable Talking Chess Coach against the Team Mate at 30 secs per move and my opinion is that they are similar in strength ...
