The brightness of the light circles can be adjusted in the menu options.This will alleviate your issue with the lights between squares.

What I like about it is the ease of use,the look and most importantly the refreshing non clinical ,creative and varied style of play that seems to be lacking in most other dedicateds I own.

No offence but if I was playing computer v computer against the Centaur I would use my judgement to call a draw and certainly wouldn't be bothered to do 50 or 75 moves.
