We are dependant on ChessUSA and Quentin from ChessUSA and volunteers like Sam for all the technical support and hosting the board isn't free. I dont know why the host would do this. It is at least the second time so they know Sam has to repair everything by hand and anybody not aware what has happe...

They are celebrating their 40th year this year, the warehouse did not close although their physical store had to close being nonessential business. That is debatable if everybody has to stay in their homes :) You can get a 10% discount on any mail order: https://www.chessusa.com/ It does not look li...

Especially the New Yorkers as that is not a given with the Corona virus. But TalkChess from New York is 403 again, maybe if someone sends mail to Sam, can you add...

Please have a look before it all disappears into Steve's vaults never to be seen again :) ! Ed Schröder also posted the below on the Rybka forum but not yet here and as there are a lot of ancient tabletop collector's here, Mark Uniacke is one too I believe, I'm sure you do not want to miss taking at...

Is choice three actually worded like that in the actual poll? If so, I think it would be a biased poll. You got that right. But I trust David Levy would not have put it like that. But never mind how Harvey is wording it, I kind of doubt that the IGCA is capable of coming to any good decision. I'm w...

You can buy it from www.yoyotech.co.uk Nice machine Harvey! And you can operate HIARCS remotely with your Netbook PC? Is that HIARCS in ChessBase you are running and in case of something like a powerfailure at the remote location could you still reboot your PC? http://www.csvn.nl/images/zoom/PXSJUR...

so Mr Uniacke would we see an updated book soon ? :) You got one with Hiarcs 12.1 - was that so long ago? Hello Harvey, I bought Hiarcs 12 mainly for the Eric Hallsworth opening book but it's almost a year old and in computer chess that is a looong time, especially now with the Playchess turfwars. ...

You miss the point here a world championship that is easy to understand played on hardware anyone can buy, switch on and load their chosen software, is easier to get publicity for. I think it's more difficult to get publicity for such a thing for the very reasons that you mention, with the refuter ...

Re: Where do you plan on viewing the games?

Okay, so tomorrow is the start of the World Championship Chess Games. Who do you think will be the first to spring their Novelty? Will it be Kramnik or Anand? Will it be early (Moves 1 -10), Middle (Moves 10-20), or Late (Moves 20-30) in the opening? If you are tuning in, where do you plan on viewi...

Johnny's Beijing diary:

I saw in the CSS sister-forum a link to Johannes Zwanzger's blog , for the readers that can understand German. Nice picture from the view from the hotelroom, I would not have recognized it as China, it looks more like a scene from Florida's Disneyworld with one of Steve's magic Mattel chess-castles ...

Update for HIARCS 12 Chessbase Graphical User Interface

Nice gesture from Chessbase! Especially for Rybka 3 owners -or those thinking about it- that do not have the Rybka 3 GUI. When entering the the Playchess server I got a message that there was an update to the GUI. I hope it works, I have not seen any messages posted about this and only just installe...
