CTF is down because of an inquiring post.
Dear Terry, When you call everyone at CTF, fetuses and then mock them with the question, "What is your Net Worth?" there can arise heated debate and large numbers of onlookers. In the first thirty minutes there were over forty views of that "pernicious" post. I have buddies who a...

Re: Best Forum--Talkchess of Course.
There is no freedom in the Hiarcs forum. Getting rid of Harvey and SteveB might solve the problem. The Talkchess forum is the best in the world. Just look at the number and quality of the posts. Hiarcs forum is about 3 to 5% of the leader in all respects. Uncle Buck PS Hiarcs 12 is a damned good pr...

Steve B, You have a great sense of humor. Hiarcs is an excellent chess program but the Hiarcs forum has little in common with the program. TJ I agree, and I'm the other Rybka forum vote. I'm actually a Rybka spy acting as incognito 8) Now, I'd want to know the reasons these 7 votes think that Hiarcs...

Is a Tandoor Oven Good for the Environment?
Harvey,
I think that the tandoor ovens are actually a very polluting type of cooking
implement. An energy-efficient electric oven would be more rational. I am sure that Vas Rajlich would agree.

Phooey on Tandoori,

Dear Anonymous Poster, If the Talkchess numbers surpassed the Hiarcs numbers then it would be meaningful. Most of the mature non-groupthink posters at both sites are not sycophantic wimps. Uncle Buck PS Of course you could also rationalize that the number of members at the Talkchess site are g...

Re: Brand new hardware chess machine
Dear Ed, You could just settle for a nice Quad Intel machine with the QX6850 cpu. For under $4000.00 USD you would have a potent chess machine. If you tired of chess then you could always play Crysis on it. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Infinity_Ultimate/ TJ PS Dedicated chess machines ma...

Re: Computer Chess Playing Robot Wife
Steve, Thank you. I am thinking of a checker-playing dog. Gil Dodgen had a nice program called "Cornell Checkers" that had barking dogs and meowing cats mix it up on the checkerboard. This was the little brother to his World Champion Checkers. Have fun, Tim PS Can you imagine a chess, drau...

Re: Computer Chess Playing Robot Wife
Steve, Lighten up! It is good to have fun and think of new ideas. I would get a pretty robot to play chess with. She could say that I am very smart and rich. I wouldn't need to worry about any sex topics or a palimony suit. Pure "unadulterated" chess with a human-like robot is a very nice ...

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0061359750/ctoc Fernando Villegas will enjoy having such a chess robot. After the chess game he may have even more fun with his robot chess maid. George Jetson  PS I wonder how much such a robot would cost. Maybe the cost could be paid over a thirty year m...

Father Fernando, The mind is willing but the mitochondriae are missing. Aching Regards, TJ You are really getting old if.... 1. You're asleep, but others worry that you're dead. 2.
