Untested personally, but seemingly serious: http://elometer.net/
There is also an end game test here:

Re: New dedicated chess computer Kickstarter

This looks to me like a fancy gimmick really many chess computers have a hint function suggesting the best move the player can make here it looks like a variation of the hint function where the best move is simply highlighted on the board cant say that exactly because there is no detailed info but ...

Hi, Yes that sounds right, the best reply to “How many moves do you think ahead” was “only one, but it is always the best one” Stated in this interesting clip: https://www.chesshistory.com/winter/extra/movesahead.html Cheers, Al. Good answer. Yes that works with a human. But against a computer the ...

Ply Depth / Half Moves

I just had a question to clarify ply-depth and half moves. So if the computer is set to ply depth 4 (4 half-moves) that means it will think 2 moves ahead? Meaning it will think of 1. Its move 2. My counter-move 3. Its 2nd move 4. My 2nd counter-move So for me to beat it at this level I have to think...

How does a tournament work? Each of you send moves to each other and see what the computer does in response?

By the way another great chess movie is "Searching for Bobby Fisher" As a long-time scholastic tournament director, the scene where they lock the parents in the basement was the only time I've ever laughed out loud in savage delight in a theater. Yes that was a classic moment and well-des...

Great advert for chess! Has anyone read the book? Is it a worthwhile read after watching the series? I read the book coincidently a few weeks ago before hearing that they made a movie out of it. The book was great. It keeps you at the edge of your seat throughout. The author of the book is the same...

Hello, I'm receiving several e-mails because of this thread. I take this opportunity to make some clarifications here: 1) Although my nickname is Berger, I have no relationship to Reinhard Berger, it is just a coincidence. By the way he passed away in April, rest in peace. :( 2) I'm not going to ch...

Does anybody know if the playing style of the Constellation 2.0, Constellation 3.6, Constellation Quattro and Super Constellation are similar? Is the only difference the open books? Otherwise the same program? I find these models on ebay rarely. So if the playing style is the same I can try to get ...

Well, I have my answers: Game 1 Position [fen]4rqk1/pp3p2/5Qpr/2pRPbNp/8/2P5/PP3PPP/3R2K1 w - - 0 25[/fen] In this position at Level 7 = Tournament Level 40 moves in 2 hours, Novag Constellation Quattro still plays 25.
