No, unfortunately I had a late night before the auction closed the next morning and woke up to find that it had ended. Someone from Australia with no previous transactions had bidded on it. Maybe someone lurking in this forum. The auction said pickup but maybe arrange courier. Anyway whoever got it...

You have to update OS at your device up to 2003 version, otherwise almost any chess program would not work on it... Check special forums about or find an experienced user for help because this process might be not easy. Thanks, I definitely agree. I submitted a post to a subreddit called retrobattl...

The Dell Axim X5 is from 2002, I had a similar iPaq 3950 from same era and remember having Pocket Fritz 2 and Pocket GrandMaster installed on it. Pocket Fritz 1 will also work but I’m not sure about the later PF3 and PF4. If you do some digging on the Shredder Chess home page you should get to down...

Or it could make much more fun
I have played 960 and really like it, no theory to study makes booking up on your opponent pointless

e1 - g1

Präsident clocks black @ -1.2
A much better move than b5-f5 (Rf5+) is c2-h2 (Qh2) which leads to fast win

Guess what Fritz 1 played here as White to move:

[fen]8/8/8/R4K2/1p6/1k6/8/8 w - - 0 51[/fen]

Only 2 moves win Ke4 or Kf4, I remember that Fritz 1 was quite weak in endgames so guess some rook move?

I am going to speculate that a dedicated chess computer will be able to play Chess 960.

Thanks I thought the Lang programs would find it with correct announcement. I feel that the King program from Tasc or RISC 2500 would be very fast.

Okay something weird is happening if computers are making Mate in 4 announcement. The main line runs 1.Ne4 Rb3+ 2.Kxb3 c1=N+ 3.Kb2 Nxe2 4.Nf3 h1=N 5.Kb1 Ng3 6.Nf2# I wonder if the computers that are making the false mate in 4 claim understand underpromotion. The position after 5.Kb1 is rather cute a...

Well kudos to Mephisto Master for finding 1.Ne4 but it is not a mate in 4 but should be saying Mate in 6  I must have double pressed 'enter' button. I reset the position... now the Master is stumped. It did, however, announce a mate in four. Can old chess computers have senior moments? L Just...

Just one slight difference in the software is that the Monaco only has 16 levels and SciSys Express has 17. The extra level is a mate solving level H.
