Electronic Chess Manual Owners of the World Unite!

Post by ChessHouse »

As many of you may know, the Mephisto Phoenix comes with a number of Emulations of chess modules of the past. Millennium said though that, due to copywrite rules, they can't include or provide the manuals to those emulations with the Phoenix.

Now, I hear your DISSENT! Yes, this is a TRAGEDY! But before you throw your arms up to RIOT, I have good news!

Yes, there is a shining beacon of light! A digital treasure trove of discovered manuals that has managed to cut this unwieldy list down to but a handful that are lacking their English version.

Where are these digital treasure troves found you ask?
http://www.zanchetta.net/default.aspx?C ... mentations
https://chess-computers.eu/chess_manuals.aspx

So rejoice and be glad; but the work is not done! Oh ho no! Below is the list of Emulations on the Phoenix still lacking an English Version manual. So, I implore you to search your treasured collections in their carefully temperature and humidity balanced locations for these missing manuals and share them with the world:

:?: Tasc King 2.2, 2.23, & 2.5
:?: Mephisto Dallas
:?: Mephisto Almeria
:?: Mephisto Lyon
:?: Mephisto Glasgow

Adobe provides an amazing (Free) app called "Adobe Scan" that makes scanning a physical manual quite easy with a phone with results that correct for parallax among other things.

Might you might be the one to fill in a missing gap and preserve these for all generations (unless AI brings humanity to an end as we know it, of course)?

I hope so.

Manually Challenged,
Paul

Alain's Site is well known here..in fact he is a moderator here

the English Manual for the Tasc R30 on his site is the same exact manual for the other versions of the Tasc ..the engine was modified/improved from 2.2-2.3-2.5 but the operation of the computer itself remained the same

Down to 4 missing manuals Regards
Steve

P.S. seems the second site you mentioned will be taken down on 6/15/23

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't a copy of the EAG V2 - V5 and V6 - V10 manual on those two sites. I downloaded the EAG manual and it's a completely different version.

I have a brand new EAG V2 - V5 and V6 - V10 manual, however I'd rather not use it and keep it in perfect condition. I guess I can scan it and create my own copy.

And then maybe send it to Alain to post on his site?
several of us have contributed to Alains's great manuals site

Well, I haven't added to this page for a long time, even though I have kept adding manuals to my site...

I've scanned all the pages and created them as a PDF. Where do I send the PDF?

Scanning regards,
Eric

Hi,

Thank you Alain for the work of storing, organising and sharing all the manuals. And also to all those who make and share the scans, of course. :-)

Best,
Gerardo

yes, a big thank you to the many contributors! I When other collectors started to send me manuals to complement my own scans, I mentioned them on my site, but I stopped quickly as they were too many, and I think that my scans represent now way less than half of the manuals available.

Best,
Alain
