More than a Nice Surprise: Knight Life Chess

Post by Fernando »

This program was published by Softdisk Publishing, in 1993. The programmer was George Leritte, which looks to me as he died in March 2009, at least a gentleman of that name and associated with chess died in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Playing it a 40/1 hour on my fast computer the thing plays pretty well, the GUI is pleasant, and any sense it is a shame that the program did not get the recognition I believe it deserves. One interesting thing is that it is a very very slow searcher. in my comp. never calculate more than just a paltry 1300-1400 moves a second, which makes it perhaps a knowledge-kind of program, I do not know.
In sum. it is a lot stronger than I thought OR I am becoming a lot weaker than I was. Maybe both.
