What was the best/strongest Motorola 68000 program ?

Post by kiroje »

Hello

I just wondered ig there is a list where stand alone units are listed with rating and their cpu ?

What was the best/strongest Motorola 68000 program (im guessing Lang)

Also how about the 6502/6510 ?

Anyone have an idea ?

Regarding the 6502 programs the Polgar 10mhz would have to take the cake.

Don’t know about the others…

Yes, and the 10mhz version is hard to find. Rated 2087… not bad for such a feeble processor.

Kittingers super forte C / Expert C is also strong.

Of course there was never a 10 MHz version sold.

With polar and monte Carlo there were limited editions with 10 MHz.

10 MHz was an unusual clock speed for dedicated chess computers not so commonly seen

another one that leaps to mind would be the Roma II (68000 processor)

The 10th Degree Regards

And Roma II was a Richard Lang program if I remember correctly....

Seems like Schröder was the 6502 King and Lang the 68000 King :)

anyone else came close on the same processors ?

When comparing the 6502 to the 68000, it's important to note that the 6502 is significantly faster at the same clock speed.
A good comparison is the n-queens problem written in assembly language, which can be found on this page:
https://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwra ... i?read=700
In this speed test the 6502 is 2.2 times faster than a 68000 and 2.8 times faster than a Z80, if scaled to the same clock speed.

Speed benchmark regards.
