A GREAT SUCCESS!!!!

Post by Fernando »

Dear friends, congratulate me....!

After losing one game after another with all kinds of programs at every kind of rhythm I have got a draw with Boris playing at its most simple level!

Clearly, I am again a chess GOD.

Now I can smile. Life is Good.

Fern, 74 years old, going fast to eternal life.

Well, I would say that I am the World Champion in losing won games.....As is happening to me now against Colossus X. I was incredibly ahead and the monster caught me with a witty move that vanished my advantage and left me inferior.....

Reset button, please...

You are not alone Fernando.

Back in the day I was able beat any chess computer up to 2000 Elo at the highest level with a simple king side attack.

I just fired up my Mephisto Senator after 19 years. Can not even beat the 5 seconds per move level.
The best I can do is to get a cheesy 3 move repetition draw.

My brain is already fried at the age of 65. Getting distracted easily is another problem.
I should have stocked up on some Ana Aslan shots while she was alive  .

Fountain of youth regards

Seriously speaking, age matters because you get tired sooner than before. First half of the game I am Ok, I get an advantage, I see every tactical shot, etc., but then in the second half I am already tired, I begin to commit blunders, etc. The machine is always fresh and looks deeper as the position is simpler.
When younger, I had a very inferior strategic vision compared with what I currently have, BUT in those years I was capable of a strenuous mental effort that these days I am incapable of performing.

Falling faster and faster regards

Well done Fern! I think as we age, any game (win, lose, or draw) is probably good to keep the grey matter sharp.

Fingers crossed that you get a victory during your next match with Boris.

Hahahahahahahaha

BTW, Today morning I was in the hospital. Asthrosis in my right and left knee.
I said to the doctor "As much I have no that in my brain, I do not care"
He answered "Wait a minute, we are not finished yet......."

A Draw against Boris is quite impressive my old friend

Even more impressive is my win this morning against the very powerful EAG 2100
Even this monster of an engine could not withstand my ferocious king side attack:

[Date "2023.10.22"]
[White "Me"]
[Black "EAG 2100"]
[TimeControl "5 Min.Blitz"]
[Result "1-0"]

FINAL POSITION

Still Dangerous After All These Years Regards

2000 USCF that's pretty strong, it's a great feeling when you can beat these stronger machines... :D Fischer must have been like a God back then when he won the WC to his supporters in the US :D

As an Armenian, Petrosian was my God. Then Fischer become a fascination.

Karpov and Kasparov were last of the players worth studying for me.

Today's super GM scene is all about preparation. Million games databases.
35 plys in 5 seconds computers. Even GM commentators live during world
championships were reading from the engine lines to comment.

Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll. Regards.
