do you know anything about Hansdamf - what engine is that?
To me the name sounds strange - I only know the word Hansdampf with an extra p - which means something like "Jack of all trades"

Best wishes,
Lukas

P.S. could you please tell me what computer is beeing used by Hiarcs - i heard it's a Skulltrail - what's the CPU speed?
It is IsiChess by Gerd Isenberg with a new name he wanted to keep to only 8 letters. Our skull runs at 3.59 today.

Thanks for these informations - in case you want some hints to make that computer a little bit faster - please feel free to ask me. My Skulltrail is capable of running at 4.2 GHz, but CPUs get a little hot at that speed, so mine runs at 4 GHz. Anyway - the performance difference 3.6 GHz - 4 GHz is really small - less than 5%
Best wishes

Round 4 should be starting soon. I think the game should be broadcast in the playchess broadcast room. As soon as the game starts between Hiarcs and Rybka I will post the moves and update as the game progresses :D If anyone wants to join me on playchess and watch my handle is the same as here :D

The game has started and Hiarcs opened with the queens gambit. It appears that Hiarcs has sacrificed a pawn in exchange for counterplay, 19.Ne4!

Rybka is eating up a lot of it's clock. Looks like a possible perpetual check

Game 4 was one of the best games I have ever watched. Hiarcs really showed its attacking style right from the get-go. Choosing a pawn sacrifice in exchange for good counter play Hiarcs took the lead a few moves after the opening and held it for a while even down a pawn. Hiarcs was ahead as much as 0.25 even down a pawn and had Black not knowing what to do with its black bishop in the middlegame. In the end though the extra pawn allowed Rybka to barely escape with a draw after material was exchanged out. Rybka used quite a bit of time on moves that were clearly obvious like 28...a6 and 30...Bxc5 which was odd. Black ended up using almost a hour more time then white. All in all it was a good game and congrats to the Hiarcs team for playing a wonderful game :D

Game 4 was the the clash of the titans for this tournament, personally I loved the attacking style of Hiarcs in the game, it really felt like you were watching a strong GM attacking with gusto........

[Round "4"]
[White "Hiarcs"]
[Black "Rybka"]
[Result "1/2-1/2"]

[PlyCount "88"]

1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Nf3 e6 5. Bg5 h6 6. Bh4 dxc4 7. e4 g5 8. Bg3 b5 9. Be2 Bb7 10. Ne5

[fen]rn1qkb1r/pb3p2/2p1pn1p/1p2N1p1/2pPP3/2N3B1/PP2BPPP/R2QK2R w KQkq - 0 10[/fen]

Here Rybka plays Nbd7 which is marked !? in the H12 book, seems a bit passive and I'd personally play Bb4 (which is the H12 book prefered line)

Nbd7 11. Qc2 Bg7 12. h4

[fen]r2qk2r/pb1n1pb1/2p1pn1p/1p2N1p1/2pPP2P/2N3B1/PPQ1BPP1/R3K2R w KQkq h3 0 12[/fen]

laying the foundations for opening this file up later

Qe7 13. Nxd7 Nxd7 14. e5

[fen]r3k2r/pb1nqpb1/2p1p2p/1p2P1p1/2pP3P/2N3B1/PPQ1BPP1/R3K2R w KQkq - 0 14[/fen]

Very natural looking move, hindering Rybkas ability to push through the centre whilst reducing the power of the dark squared bishop

O-O-O 15.O-O-O Kb8 16. Kb1 Ka8

[fen]k2r3r/pb1nqpb1/2p1p2p/1p2P1p1/2pP3P/2N3B1/PPQ1BPP1/1K1R3R w - - 0 17[/fen]

In the game I thought this was a strange move from Rybka, but on reflection I assume it was looking to try and free up the centre in the future and didn't want any nasty looking checks from the Bishop landing on e5?

17. hxg5 hxg5 18. Rxh8 Rxh8 19. Ne4 Bf8 20. Qd2 Rg8 21. Qa5 Bg7 22. b3 cxb3 23. axb3 f5 24. exf6 Nxf6 25. Bd6 Qd8 26. Bc7 Qd5 27. Nc5

[fen]k5r1/pbB3b1/2p1pn2/QpNq2p1/3P4/1P6/4BPP1/1K1R4 w - - 0 27[/fen]

Whilst the engines rate this position as pretty much 0.00, you've got to admire the human way Hiarcs has generated this attack, if you had this position in a club game you'd be feeling pretty happy.........well I would anyway!

Bf8 28. Bb6 a6 29. Bf3 Qf5+ 30. Kb2 Bxc5 31. Bxc6 Qxf2+ 32. Ka1 Kb8 33. dxc5

[fen]1k4r1/1b6/pBB1pn2/QpP3p1/8/1P6/5qP1/K2R4 w - - 0 33[/fen]

Still on the king hunt, Hiarcs keeps banging in material around the black king, forcing Rybka to close off the D file

Nd5 34. Bc7+ Kc8 35. Bxd5 Bxd5 36. Bd6

[fen]2k3r1/8/p2Bp3/QpPb2p1/8/1P6/5qP1/K2R4 w - - 0 36[/fen]

Still in Rambo mode Hiarcs forces Rybka to bring it's queen back to defend the mate threat

Qf7 37. Rc1 Rd8 38. Kb2 Qg7+ 39. Ka3 Qb7 40. Rf1 Bxg2 41. Rg1 Rd7 42. Qd2 b4+ 43. Qxb4 Qxb4+ 44. Kxb4 Rb7+ 1/2-1/2

[fen]2k5/1r6/p2Bp3/2P3p1/1K6/1P6/6b1/6R1 w - - 0 45[/fen]

Final position, for style alone Hiarcs should have got the point in this game, gutsy opening choice too!

It was a nice-looking game, though I don't really see any other way that this could have ended from the line out of book--even though things look exciting, options on both sides were really fairly restricted. I don't think that ...Nbd7 was bad, and putting the bishop on b4 also would have led to some problems, as then black's kingside could be torn apart more quickly.

Unfortunately, as it's almost certain that both players will win the rest of their games (barring a colossal blunder), it looks like we'll have a tie for first. It's amusing how some people on here were rating Leiden as so good and "prestigious" when only two strong computers/engines are present, and when these are very vastly ahead of the rest of the field.

Not really, even my quick patzer analysis can look good if you put enough fen diagrams in it
