In the moment sparc plays some games to come back into the leading position. so far sparc module has 100% (10 from 10 games!).

it seems i have no dedicated chess computer that can stop the sparc module.

if this is not changing i will maybe integrate a tasc chessmachine version with the koning program. so far i have no the koning program in my tournament and it is my big wish to have ALL programmers with almost all engines beeing in the tournament.
it seems Thor that you perhaps have the Strongest Sparc module ever released for sale!
:P

when i competed in the Paris Games this past May.. my Sparc could only win 1 game ..draw 2 and lost two ..to finish second from dead last
http://www.zanchetta.net/echecs/Paris2008/default.aspx
and i was using a module with 4MB for hash tables ..not the normal 1MB!!

but the time control was only 30 Seconds per move
your tournament is a longer control if i remember correctly

No Spark For Me Regards
Steve
yes i am playing 40/120.
maybe this time control is better for sparc.
maybe in the tournament you participated
the opponents were stronger.
my idea was not to get the strongest, my idea was to get almost ALL
programs from ALL programmers.

therefore i think i will kick constellation out, this machine is to weak,
and has only played 4 games...

and i have enough novag machines in the field.

and replace it with the chessmachine de koning.

30 seconds is very fast.
the spracklen programs needs some time to get a stable main line.
5 or 6 plies is not enough. 7 and 8 is better.

you had horrible opponents.
vancouver, montreux... horrible.
What seems like a fairy tale today may be reality tomorrow.
Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....

Finding it difficult to leave the Novag Computers(which are personally my favorite of all the manufacturers )i thought i would post a game played about a year ago by the little Novag Sapphire II against the Fidelity Elite Premiere loaded with the Mephisto Vancouver Engine..Rated 2119(SS)

The Sapphire II ..rated 2132(SS)..is a small "calculator" style computer which can be attached to the Universal Chess board (if one is in the mood for wood)

Image

In The Game the Van had White and was first out of book on move 10
it typically searched 4/16 in the middle game and 6/18 in the Endgame
the Sapphire II hit 7 ply mid game and 9 ply endgame

[White "Fidelity Elite Premiere(Van 16)"]
[Black "Novag Sapphire II"]
[Time Control "Game/30Min"]

1.Nf3 d5 2.d4 Nf6 3.c4 c6 4.cxd5 cxd5 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Bf4 e6 7.e3 Be7 8.Bd3

[fen]8/p2bqkpp/4p3/5p2/4p3/P3P2P/1PQ1NPP1/6K1 w - - 0 29[/fen]

the game has seen an early exchange of pieces leaving Black with doubled pawns and B vs N
Eval's here are Van +.3 and SII -.34

29.Qc7 Bb5 30.Qxe7+ Kxe7 31.Nd4 Bd7 32.Kh2 e5 33.Ne2 a5 34.b4 axb4 35.axb4 Ke6 36.Nc3 Kd6 37.Kg3 h6 38.Kh4 Be8 39.g4 g6 40.Kg3 Kc7 41.h4 h5 42.gxf5 gxf5 43.Nd5+ Kd6 44.Nc3 Bf7 45.Kg2 Bc4 46.Kh2 Kc6 47.Kh3 Bf1+ 48.Kg3 Bd3 49.Kg2 Ba6

[fen]8/8/b1k5/4pp1p/1P2p2P/2N1P3/5PK1/8 w - - 0 50[/fen]
the position is drawn
White van keep the Black K from invading on the Qside by posting his N on c3 or a3 and the B has no targets on White squares
the Van correctly scores the position as +.00 while the SII thinks its ahead showing +.69
because of this slight positive score ,the SII, rather then repeating the position for a draw, rambles all over the board with its monarch making no headway what so ever while the Van's K simply shuffles back and forth

50.Kg3 Bf1 51.Kh2 Kd6 52.Nb1 Kd5 53.Kg3 Bd3 54.Na3 Kd6 55.Kg2 f4

GAME DRAWN

i have seen enough
in no mood to sit and watch this until the 50 move rule is invoked(or until a computer over steps the time control)
i called the game here

Another Game from this Historic match:

in this game, it was the Res-Fruit 05 that was out of book first at move 11
the game featured a poisoned offering of a Knight at move 18

GAME 3-RES Fruit WCCC 05 WINS

Res Fruit WCCC 05-2.5
Tasc R40 v2.5-.5

[Date "2005.9.30"]

[TimeControl "Game -30 MIN."]
[Result "0-1"]

in the position Res -Fruit 05 leaves the Knight on F5 hanging
the Tasc thought for a good 90 seconds here and still took the offering
obviously the Res could see much deeper into the position and came at the
exposed White King with all guns a blazing
the game was quickly over
