Match Revelation Hiarcs 13.3 - Revelation Shredder 12

Post by spacious_mind »

Here is the first game in this best of 12 Match. I decided I want to play best of 12 because of the two Revelation Modules that I have. One gold set and one black set. This way I can let them both play 3 games with white and 3 game with black on both sets. For the first 6 games Revelation Schredder 12 plays with the gold set.

Schredder 12 had the slightly better position after the opening. But the game was fairly even up to move 47:

In this position Schredder could not resist taking the open pawn with 48. Nxh5. Analysys shows this move to be ok but I felt that in the end it became Schredder's undoing. The pressure of the two Black pawns on b4 and c4 as well as pressure of defending the White pawn on f3 where just to much for Schredder to consider.

Once Hiarcs 13.3 felt that it's nose was ahead, there was no stopping the engine from taking the first game in this match.

Revelation Hiarcs 13.3 = 1
Revelation Schredder 12 = 0

Best regards

Nick

Sorry for the slowness in getting the games played, but here is game 2 of this 12 game match.

There is not too much to say about this second game. Revelation Hiarcs 13.3 had a very slight advantage in this QGD game. For most of the middle game Hiarcs 13.3 evaluated itself as better by as much as a +0.9 margin. This evaluation seemed a little optimistic to me and I would have thought that in no part of the game the positions warranted any higher than about +0.5. However, since Hiarcs thought that its position was better it tried ways to open up the game along the flanks. This however allowed Shredder to manouver its Rook behind the opponent's King which resulted in a draw since this effectively forced Hiarcs 13.3 to protect its position.
