Fidelity Travelmaster on ebay

The seller describes the unit as "very good condition", but stops short
of stating outright that it is in fully working condition. Shipping is strictly
for USA shipping only, and questions from outside USA seem to be blocked.
It could be the very one I sold late last year to a USA buyer from the
east coast, but the State was not New Jersey. I sold it in fine working
condition, but advised the buyer that it's a great idea to leave it in it's
open position. Strangely, I received no feedback from the buyer, and s/he
did'nt even respond when I asked for feedback.
If you are considering this machine, take my advice and ask the seller
to put up a few more photos of it working, with something of your choice
showing on the display, ie, something different in each photo.
The seller has perfect feedback, which has to be respected, but the seller
may have only turned it on and saw it power up. It has to be put through
it's paces to be sure it is fine.
dead file regards,
Larry

If I recall correctly, that's the issue of the ribbon cable connecting the halves eventually giving out with repeated folding?

Don't bother calling the cable company regards,
Dave

Yep, that was the problem. If they had used modern cell phone
technology to connect the two sides, most of them would be still
going to this day, and selling on ebay for $30, complete and working.
They would have even gone on to make later versions, perhaps in
different color plastic cases, with increasing playing strength. I
remember when I bought mine, the playing strength came as
a bit of a shock. It was a bit buggy in the endgame though, announcing
'mate-in-one' for several moves.
all the best,
Larry

I notice the seller is proud to announce that he keeps a "smoke and pet free " home...as if this will have some sort of beneficial impact on the condition of the TM
Well ..as both a smoker and the proud owner of a beautiful cat.. i can say i would not deal with this seller if he was giving the TM away for free
i mean whats next?

Item comes from a ..

Childless Home?
Unfurnished Home?
Non-Alcohol Drinking home?
Home in the secluded woods far away from the toxic pollution of the big city?
Green Energy Home that is powered by Geothermal underground wells?
Junk-Food free Home ?

Cmon

Sold for $23. This seller just blew about $250 by not opening the auction
up to the international market.

Nope.. i did not bid on the TM..
i did get a request from a European collector to bid on his behalf ..but sadly ..he sent me the request with only a few hours to go before the end of the auction and i did not receive the request in time to bid for him
i am always happy to help out a fellow collector ..even in this case ..when the computer is coming from a cold..lifeless.. sterile home ..where they hate cats and other furry and helpless pets
Hissing And Scratching Regards
Steve
