The question became: is it possible that this game could take the rest of the year? And the answer was Yes!

Happy New Year Steve Regards,

The 10th Game
VIP is out of book on move 2
after an early flurry of exchanges
both sides 0-0 and then oddly both decide to repeat the position
after only 12 moves!
after playing 8 consecutive games with no draws we have two draws in a row!
it seems neither of these computers wants to claim superiority over the other
perhaps after facing each other for several weeks they have grown fond of each other?

[Date "2012.01.01"]
[White "Novag VIP"]
[Black "Mephisto Excalibur"]
[Time Control "1 Min.Avg."]
[Result "1/2-1/2"]

1.Nc3 c5 2.e4 e6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.e5 d5 5.exf6 dxc4 6.fxg7 Bxg7 7.Nf3 Nc6
8.O-O O-O 9.Ne4 Qd5 10.Nc3 Qd8 11.Ne4 Qd5 12.Nc3 Qd8 1/2-1/2

Final Position
[fen]r1bq1rk1/pp3pbp/2n1p3/2p5/2p5/2N2N2/PPPP1PPP/R1BQ1RK1 w - - 0 13[/fen]
Match is tied 5-5

In order to break the tie ...
i will hold one more game ...
Time Control will be increased to tournament level .. 40/2Hrs
Excalibur gets White and can choose whatever opening it wants to play

The Excitement builds to a Mind Numbing Crescendo regards

The Tie Breaker

Excalibur decides to open with 1.c4 and is out of book first on move 4
At 40/2 VIP hits 6 ply and Excalibur achieves 4 Brute/12-16 Selective
this was a grueling game....for me the operator
Ex manages to achieve another R+P vs R endgame only this time it is
a won game
at move 63 it only needs to promote its "g" P and the VIP would have
to give up its R ..resulting in a K+R vs K won game..
instead Ex plays any move except that for another 20 moves!
finally on move 83 it stumbles unto the winning path
20 meaningless moves ..at 3 minutes per move..this wasted a good
2 Hrs of your humble correspondents time!
lets have a look...

POSITION AT MOVE 63

[fen]4r3/3k2PK/8/5R2/8/8/8/8 w - - 0 64[/fen]
Hello?
64.g8=Q and its over..thank you very much..have a nice day
instead ..Ex plays Rh5 and continues like this for another 20 moves!
I used the two wasted Hrs between moves 63-83 constructively and
began setting up an Ebay auction for the Excalibur ..i was dangerously close to posting it
needless to say i was not a happy puppy
