will the release of the Rev II mark the end of new engine releases for the Res ll and Rev l?
Discountinued Regards
Steve
Steve,
Well, not really, however the current flash storage is quite full, so expanding the current modules is (almost) not possible.
Thanks
Finally with the Rev ll having a Marvell PXA high performance processor.. what ELO gain do you estimate it will achieve over the Res ll/Rev l?
Using Shredder 12 as a base with an SSDF of 2725

Steve,
We are still investigating what this will mean, however the PXA255 and PXA300 differ quite a lot, so we have to see what it brings.

Actually, chess computer friends, the price is 2.795 Euro. And for my american friends you may deduct tax (19%), so you are looking at 2.450 Euro. But then there is the DGT piece recognition added...
Hope you like the design...
All the best.
Looking for a nice Fidelity EAG or A/S and a Odin Encore. Please send me a private message.
"The Revelation II Board Chess development is at the final stage, getting ready for production. We expect the system to become available end of Q3 2012 for delivery, and the price is set to 2.795 Euro. On the picture the Revelation II is shown as it will be delivered, with the black stands"
I hope theres no problems with the launch of this chess computer. Usually Rudd writes on this forum when theres something new. Hope Rudd is ok. Well, any news will be good news.
Running at 800 MHz isn't Revelation II going to require a fan to keep things cool?
If thats the case then we all know about fans inside of computers to keep things cool don't we?
My Atari 2600 that I bought in 1977 didn't have a fan.
My Mattel Intellivision that I bought in 1979 didn't have a fan.
My Commodore 64 that I bought in 1982 didn't have a fan.
Lets see I bought my first IBM clone computer in 1987 and it had a fan to keep things cool... (Thanks Bill you were thinking well back then!)
My 286 had a fan...
My 386 had a fan...
My 486 had a fan...
I'm starting to see a trend here.
The fact that fans need to be cleaned once in awhile because they are dust magnets...
The fact that fans are a "moving part" and that they will need to be replaced at some point...
I hope Revelation II has a cpu fan. But then...
I hope I did not put Revelation II on the same level as an Atari 2600 either.

Not Sure if Rev II will need a fan
i doubt it
The Resurrection II modules and Revelation I run at 500 Mhz and there are no cooling fans
Actually several Oldies i own do use cooling fans:
Saitek Sparc 1mb,Sparc 4mb
Mephisto Tournament Machine
Mephisto WunderMachine
Tasc R40
i never had a problem with them ever overheating

If the Rev II doesn't have a cpu fan then no big deal.
We can always send ours to Queegmeister and he can modify them for us.
