Fidelity Avant Garde 2100

Post by Larry »

Notice it went for Euro 600, when the seller's suggested by it now
price was Euro 680. It sold just hours after being listed. Surely the
seller dudded himself?... I mean he probably could have got his full
amount, just by waiting longer. The buyer will be a happy camper.

How about this one for a mere $1600??

it does have the rather rare CG64 Great games module (in box with manual)
i must admit i am amazed at the prices Fidelity modules bring in these days..but even this module will not bring in this ridiculous price
the original box for the computer is missing but it has its manual
interestingly..my CG64 module only works with Fidelity Computers that have the 1983 Budapest program(I.E.Elegance,SC12A, EAS ,Privat..Etc..Etc..) and will not work with the EAG 2100
Anyway if this sells for the price being asked for it i will eat my hat

Enjoy your meal... Hope it's not a used leather hat from
a Harlem yard sale. Maybe put plenty of sauce on it?.. and a sprinkling
of garlic, perhaps?

I contacted the seller yesterday and asked for a few photos, at least
one with the thing working. Still no response...draw your own conclusion.
You don't suppose he made a typo, and it should read $80 not $800,
do you?

The bidding will be brisk on this one, some are looking for a cheap one
to convert to a V11.
BTW how do you know it's a V2?... the "2265" badge goes up to, and
includes, the V5. Go to :http://www.schach-computer.info/wiki/in ... _Versionen
and scroll down.

Larry
The serial number shown in the auction is 6114..Thats a V2
The other 2265 versions have a different serial number
for example..
the V4 shows 6114-4:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/10261668@N ... 0922170604
V5 shows 6114-5:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/10261668@N ... 0922170604

Same is true for the 2325 which just shows 6117
while the V9 shows 6117-9
Etc..Etc..

I guess its possible this V2 was upgraded and the new serial number was not applied to the back or fell off but that is pretty remote

V2 Brutus Regards

Holy Mother of God! With no adapter and those cracked and sandblasted pieces? I have half a mind to get into the wooden chess computer business myself, at these prices!

Well I was in contact with the seller, who originally refused to send
outside the US, but later relented, and agreed to send to Europe or
Australia. They probably convinced him that to shut out well heeled
European collectors was plain stupid.
He, the seller, sent me a message. He said at the estate sale where he
bought it there were actually two of them, almost identical. Of course,
not being savvy, he would not have known how to tell the different
versions apart. He initially turned his back on both of them, and went
home. When he returned the other one was gone, so he bought the
remaining one.
Now he told me to keep an eye on ebay in the coming weeks for the
other one to appear. He may well be right, because we can assume that
the person who did buy the other one is also not savvy, or s/he would
surely have bought both of them. We can pretty much rest assured they
were both priced well below market value, being at an estate sale.

Watch..
this second one could be the legendary V8 (or higher)..a version no collector i know owns

if this poor fellow who has passed away(and now has his beloved wife selling his stuff for peanuts to ..walk in.. off the street ..strangers) had 2 EAG's he certainly would not have two of the Same version

we know he had a V2 ...
its possible he had a 2100 and then bought the higher V2 but my guess is he would have upgraded the 2100 instead of buying a V2 outright
thats alot of money to have spent on only a one version improvement
no..i think he bought a V2 and then also bought something higher..
perhaps a V6..but again thats alot of money in those days to spend for a "one level up" upgrade
no .i think this poor fellow(whose beloved wife is selling his stuff for nickles and dimes to anyone that happens by ) had a V2 and then went for the gold .. shot straight to the top .. and bought either a V5,V8 or V9 or V10

had he known that his wife would eventually be selling them for $10 and a Pizza he would probably not have bought them all together
who knows...perhaps he found out what his wife planned to do with these two magnificent computers when he died and it was this thought alone that killed this poor fellow in the first place

Anyway...

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for EAG Gold On Ebay Regards
