TASC R-30 missing piece

Post by DJH »

Hello everyone. I am not a chess person myself but my father is in a big way. He purchased the Tasc R-30 version 2.5 back in the 90's but later had a problem with the sensor/chip on the bottom of the black king. He sent this off to be repaired somewhere in Holland I think and never heard from the company or got the piece back again. I think I am right in thinking that the company ceased trading.
So what I am after as a gift for him is to try and find a black king for this computer, I know this is not going to be easy as the computers are no longer made, but you never know. Perhaps there is someone out their with a broken board that would like to sell the pieces or the whole lot.
If anyone could help with this matter I would be most appreciated.

Regards,

Darren[/b]

Hi, Your dad paid good money for his Tasc R30 back then, maybe a
few weeks worth of his income. Although you have'nt had a response
to your post yet, we do feel for you. It must be particularly annoying
to not even receive your chess piece back. I'm sorry I can't help
with pieces myself... I've never even seen a Tasc chess comp... but
I can give you a place to ask:

The site is in German, but a lot of them speak and read English quite
well, and you can post there in English.
Hope all works out for you,
take care..
