I fired up an Apple II emulator this weekend for a trip down memory lane, trying out every chess program I could find, from Colossus 4.0 down to ye olde MicroChess. As a long time fan of Richard Lang's work, I was surprised to find no trace of an Apple II version of his early Cyrus II program. I found mention of an Apple II version in the same breath as a Commodore 64 version at the chess programming wiki. The Commodore 64 version of Cyrus II released in 1986 is available in many archives and was tested by Nick at spacious-mind.com. There was a 6502 program from Intelligent Software entered in the 1984 NACCC, but I don't know whether that was from the Cyrus line.
So was there a Cyrus II for the Apple II, and if so does anyone have a pointer to it?
History question: was there a Cyrus II for the Apple II?
