Fidelity EAG 2100

Post by Larry »

I've got this one in the cross hairs:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/140880337424 ... 1438.l2649

Only problem, it will cost dearly to have shipped to Australia, but
I figure if I can get it for a good price...
The same seller is putting up a CC1 and an EAS, both nice machines.
Down here we are used to dealing with the tyranny of distance.

Bidding has passed $1000 with more then 2 days to go

and Yet...my bet is that this beautiful wooden Novag Constellation Expert cant even sell for 1/2 that price
"Buy Now" only $550..sitting there with no suiters

http://www.ebay.com/itm/170939551194?ss ... 1438.l2648

the EAG 2100 would sell for $550 if it were broken into 3 pieces

cant be the rating..
the Connie Expert is rated only about 50 Elo lower then the EAG 2100

i ask again...
what is it with this love affair for Wooden Fidelity's??

Amazed Regards

Steve, it has to do with the name, 'Fidelity'- definition: loyalty, faithfullness. From an early age we are taught to choose 'fidelity'. We have no choice. What does Novag mean? So there you have it- it's all in the name.

Speaking of Fidelity: Did you notice the Fidelity Eldorado that appeared on U.S. eBay (I believe) Wednesday? It was priced Buy-It-Now at a fairly low price for a Fidelity and was snapped up within an hour or two. I was very tempted, but my dilemma with it was that it is a rank beginner's board (ELO can't be any more than 1300) with a Book of (only) 100. What's sort of funny is that according to the wiki, the promo for it on the box or in the manual says, 'Opening Book of 100 and so much more'. :)

Fidelity Rejected Regards,
Dave

And the "So Much More" did not even include a display
El Dorado was one of the few Fidelity's i was never interested in
you might be onto something with your Fidelity warm n fuzzy name theory
about as good a reason as any i guess
:P

i grew up with Fidelity chess computers being heavily advertised and very easily available .. with new models being released every other Tuesday..
in fact..hanging above my crib as an infant..instead of the normal Cow Jumps Over The Moon...or Peter Pan hanging figures.. i had Fidelity "Tiny "and "Micro" Chess Challengers swaying overhead which i fixated on and attached to
perhaps the folks in Europe and elsewhere couldn't get them as easily so as a result there is more of a Mystique to them now

Childhood memories Regards

Just in case the first EAG 2100 is beyond your reach in price

you can always pick this one up dirt cheap

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Fidelit ... 0752707695

and if thats not absurd enough for you..
how about this clown...selling Excalibur Mirage pieces for $10 a pop
this rocket scientist says he dropped the Mirage and its now broken
so i guess Einstein thinks if he sells 20 pieces he can recoup his purchase price anything after that is pure profit

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Excalib ... 0919695487?

Beyond Ridiculous Regards

Actually, he says he 'dripped' the board which perhaps means he spilled water on it... :D

Well the EAG 2100 sells for $1825
a good 3.5x its original selling price

in the meantime...high end Novags continue to be ignored for prices at a fraction of the EAG

in addition to the still ignored Connie Expert mentioned above ...
here is a gorgeous Super Expert C6..also with no bites

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOVAG-SUPER-EXP ... 1122296554

Dissed Regards

For this price I hope the seller will throw in some spare reed switches  Seriously, a beautiful machine that I greatly admire. I think I shall go over to the storage bunker and tinker with the Elegance now....
Chess is like painting the Mona Lisa whilst walking through a minefield.

While the EAG's..defective or not.. sell for thousands of dollars( this weeks run-o-the-mill EAG is bidding at $1395).. the high-end wooden Novags continue to be disrespected
here is yet another ..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Novag-Schachcom ... 1024119812?

at least here a few bidders have stumbled by..the current bid price would just about cover the shipping costs of an EAG

Troubled Regards
Steve
