Very generous offer to you...

Post by Larry »

The Mayan calendar, an extremely highly regarded and scientifically
verified instrument, assures us that all dedicated chess computers are
going to break down and never work again. This will happen on
14 Feb 2013.
But take heart, you have not lost completely. I am making a once
only offer for all your chess computers. I offer the following prices:
TASC R30 $40 (extra $10 for R40)
Genius Modules $20
RISC2500 $10
Montreux $10
Berlin Pro $7.50
Fidelity CC1 $5
Other valuations on request. You pay shipping of course.
Hurry, just a couple of weeks to go.

You call those collector's items? How about a Saitek Cavalier for $5 (no pieces & it seizes up whenever you start beating it).

What is it about the Cavalier that makes it seize up? My first one also seized up, so it became a donor machine for certain parts that were still serviceable. Luckily the second Cavalier I bought on eBay 3 years ago continues to work fine, though I worry since it is one of several machines of which I only own one working example.
Chess is like painting the Mona Lisa whilst walking through a minefield.

Jon, I know what you mean. My first Cavalier worked initially after I got it on eBay. Not long after it started doing flakey things. I set it aside for several weeks & after resetting it, it seemed to be working okay. I had it very much on the run & just when I was closing in, it seized up. Poor loser! :)

Anyway, when I find a model I enjoy, I try to always have a backup, sometimes a backup for the backup...
