Euwe vs. Spracklen

Post by Reinfeld »

Edward Winter has this amusing find: Euwe played Sargon 2.5 in 1979. Here's the link:

If you don't feel like clicking, here's the game:

Euwe v Sargon 2.5

1.e4 g6 2.d4 Bg7 3.g3 Nf6 4.Bg2 d6 5.Ne2 O-O 6.O-O e5 7.c3 c5
8.d5 b6 9.f4 Bb7 10.fxe5 dxe5 11.Nd2 Nbd7 12.a4 Qc7 13.Nc4 Rae8
14.Qb3 Ng4 15.a5 bxa5 16.Rxa5 a6 17.h3 Ngf6 18.g4 Rb8 19.Qa2

Sargon was holding on nicely up to here, though old Max had a firm advantage. Black's next move was a lemon.
