the search for collectors and there chesscomputers

Post by Sargon1972 »

Hi Guys,

Well i have some site,s where i search for mine chess computers, witch i want to collect
Well yesterday i was able to find a Chafitz ARB 2.5 , it was the first release of the Sargon ARB Board
I called and we made a agreement about the price.
Well i had to drive 1.45 min. to get there.
When i arrived the computer was standing ready, it was in very good conditions after all those years, so i was happy....but i went much happier when i looked to the Module, Grandmaster Series 4.0 :D
Also the original ticket was there and manual .
The computer worked 100% , so the deal was made very quick.
I can say, it was not expensive, but also not that cheap.

So happy regards,Hans

Congrats Hans!

the problem for Americans is that there are not a lot of collector's
I could drive for 3000 miles and not find one person with an old chess computer ..except for Alain!
:P

perhaps I will take a drive and see if I can find:
London 68000 module
Berlin -London 68000
Peri-Alpha

Hi Bryan,

good question. I have to ask Ruud. Until today I have no feedback from him.
I will ask and tell you.
Many thanks José

Is also exactly 1:45 hours away from you. But then it was just a big random. However ... a lucky punch and great bargain.

The Version 4.0 ist ultrarare to find and i think the playing strength is much higher as a sargon 2.5.

Playing Regards

Version 3.5 is Ultra Ultra Rare
released only in Europe
slightly different book then 2.5 and 3.0
Time management was fine tuned and the "Variable "setting was removed

I imagine it was slightly weaker but I cannot say for sure

here is a game I played against it in level 2
if you notice 3.5 plays 3..Bg4 which at the time I tested it no other Sargon module would play

[Date "2007.5.5"]
[White "Steve B"]
[Black "ARB SARGON 3.5"]
[TimeControl "level 2"]
[Result "1-0"]

1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5 d5 3.Nf3 Bg4 4.e3 Nbd7 5.Be2 g6 6.O-O Bg7 7.h3 Bxf3
8.Bxf3 Ne4 9.Bxe4 dxe4 10.Nc3 f5 11.f3 exf3 12.Qxf3 c6 13.d5 Bxc3
14.bxc3 Ne5 15.Qf4 Qxd5 16.Rad1 Qa5 17.e4 fxe4 18.Bxe7 Rg8
19.Bf6 Qc5+ 20.Kh1 Nf7 21.Qxe4+ Kf8 22.Rde1 Ne5 23.Bxe5+
Ke7 24.Bd4+ Kd7 25.Bxc5 Rae8 26.Rf7+ Kd8 27.Rd1+ Kc8 28.Qg4+ Kb8 29.Qd7
Re1+ 30.Rxe1 b6 31.Qb7# 1-0

Hi Guys,

Yes the 3,5 is very rare, i believe Luuk Hofman has also one, but it can be he has 3.0 and 4.0 so i am not sure . i have to look
It,s is also not sure that the 3.0 ore 3.5 is from the Spracklens

Well Jose, it was in the same country :P where i had to drive to.
I will say ,yes i was lucky. But u know i am mostly lucky
:o when i find a chess computer . But sometimes u must step in ure car and drive, and not knowing what u will see, ore get.
not much but it do happen i return home with none.

I like the Hunt regards,Hans
