As my guru told me yesterday when he delivered to me the comps he fixed -two Fidelity 9, the Munchen board and a Super Connie- in these cases as in MOST of cases the problem is where you never thinks it could be, just the transformer that you plug in the wall!!!
This simple piece of equipment, an external thing as it is, we rarely think in it and always believe that the problem is in the entrails of the machine.
IT IS NOT THE CASE, I insist.
My technician simply changed the transformer and voila, all machines OK.
In the Fidelity 9 the problems was simply, besides the transformer, that the pins of the connections were not holding fine, just, again a simple thing to repair.
Transforming regards

I am happy it was not a big job but
I cannot believe you do not have more then one transformer
whenever that happens to me the first thing I check is the transformer
I have more transformers then chess computers
and for this you paid this guy a $250 house call visit??
AC/DC Regards
Steve
The guy just asked me the cost of the transformer AND one of the fidelity 9.
So...
I paid lot more than 250 bucks regards

Over time you should get a feel for what goes wrong with a chessFernando wrote:As my guru told me yesterday when he delivered to me the comps he fixed -two Fidelity 9, the Munchen board and a Super Connie- in these cases as in MOST of cases the problem is where you never thinks it could be, just the transformer that you plug in the wall!!!

computer. Over half of problems do not need a technician, but are
quite fixable by yourself. Regarding power adaptors, be careful!
If you go over with the voltage you might suddenly have an expensive
manual chess board. I believe you own a risc2500...this one is
especially vulnerable because it takes no more than 6 volts DC
positive tip.
I have also got more adaptors than I need. I prefer regulated adaptors,
which give the same voltmeter reading whether under load or not.

Larry; i do not handle even a hammer. For anything going beyond my writer capabilities I just hire someone.
I would have slaves just to dress me.
Never going to see a doctor; he must come to my home
So I expend lot of money because..
I live as a sultan regards
