If I do the conversion right....149 seems more expensive than 99 euros. Are there other online stores in the US selling these chess computers?

Shopping regards,
Dave
actually they don't have it yet
it is listed as a pre-order..coming soon

my guess is that the MCGenius will be appearing on Ebay very soon probably at a price somewhere between $149 and $115(99 Euro conversion)

Really ?
Google nexus 5x costs 379 $ in USA and 479 euro in EU !
That is a difference IMO.

Congratulations on receiving your ChessGenius! We are looking forward to reading about your impressions as you begin playing with it.

Concerning the nexus....yes, a big difference, but it doesn't make much sense.. sometimes the USA pays more and sometimes less.

Ah yes, "coming soon", well noted. I noticed that their regular price is $189, discounted $40 to $149. Marketing magic!
I am anxious to order....but will wait for eBay and a price more in line with the euro pricing.

Patience (& hair) running thin - regards,

Dave, why are you anxious?
In Germany the price is being increased straight after the release date to 119 Euros.
So I guess they are doing the same in the States with 149/189 bucks.
So waiting just a few days will cost you money.

First impressions:

Case looks good. I don't need light here. Since we have no fitting power supplies without light is maybe better.

I can read display very good in the evening without light. The board piece symbols are not so nice. I concentrate on the move under the board and the search info, use novag grey pieces for the chess board. Fits perfectly.

Sensor press needs strong press with fingers,
I let the "original" pieces in the box. They look ugly and material is cheap.
Menues are easy from handling, you are used from playing with mephisto machines.

There is no tournament level, following manual.
Tournament 6 says it is 40/120 20/20 while it should be 20/60.
There is also no average 3'

Only 2 '

This will produce problems when playing 40/120 games versus other machines,

Eco has to be off to get permanent brain,
Although tournament 6 is chosen it goes OFF when Mach III computes too long on 1 move.

Computes in search 8 on 40/120.

Hi Thorsten,

So what are you saying? That there is no 30 seconds per move setting? And tournament setting if not a typo is also not good if the game goes beyond 40 moves?

8 ply is strong.

ps. if average 30 has been removed then that's probably deliberate because the Professional Tester posted 30 second games against Milano Pro which Chess Genius lost. So much for Professional Testers. Give them a job in Walmart :P

Sometime I just totally dislike Manufacturers for their stupid tricks if this is true.

Thorsten, I can´t believe that an average time of 30 seconds/move would be missing. Can you tell please which average times are possible?

Hi Steffen,

Reading Thorsten's post again, I am not sure he said that. I think he meant to say that 3 minutes average time is missing and it stops at 2 minutes.

But it would be really nice to have the level settings confirmed for peace of mind :)

I do play my tournaments in 40/120 20/60 and there is no such a level. There is tournament 6 bit manual says this is 40/120 20/20.

Also average is only up to 2' per move. No 3' per move.

This is not very good for me.
Also the computer switches off after a while (10 minutes ??).
Although Eco is OFF and tournament level chosen.
Isn't this strange ?

On a tournament level it should IMO better NOT switch off automatically because it can happen opponent computes long sometimes.

There is 30 seconds average.

In the prerelease of the manual for which I gave the url before, this is all confirmed I'm afraid...
Very strange there is no real tournament level. Hope it is a misprint...

Thorsten,

It could be just a Made in China typo. It is hard to imagine that it changes its timer midway through a game.

Maybe once you have tried to play a full 40/120 game you will now for sure.

Im amused by the tremendous level of excitement regarding the release of the MCGenius

the manual says this, the levels dont have that ,the power goes on/off, the pieces feel like this, the shrink wrap is hard to tear open ...etc..etc
Fern includes a reminder to me to ship him a Genius in every post he writes
i cant remember this level of excitement with the release of any other computer in recent times
when we kick started this forum back in 2007 we ran a contest and gave away a free brand spanking new Citrine
even that didnt generate this level of excitement
(BTW...anyone remember who won that contest?)

When the Novag 2Robot was released ...no wheres near this level of excitement
even the Release of the Revelation II didnt reach these dizzying heights

for the Rev II..Perhaps the reason has something to do with the price

Four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars Vs $100 bucks Regards
