Mike,
It is good to shop around online. Some examples include: Chess USA is charging 199, Chess House is charging 149.
I purchased from Chess House and they were very professional.
I wonder when the day will come when someone here will talk and comment of HIS personal games against the new machine. I just read and see about fights against other comps.

Waiting for Godot regards

that is basically your job here
you never play the computers against each other so this area of the hobby is usually left to you
and for this you are very handsomely paid here
it would be nice though if you could please from time to time post the actual moves of a game you played

Thanks Dave! 1st wave of these came in and promptly went out!
If anyone is looking, we are allowing back orders and expect a new shipment before Christmas.
Because delayed Genius is better than none at all...

If you look back in the thread I have already commented on this as I almost exclusively playing against machines rather than have them face each other. I was crushed in two games at tournament level. Bear in mind I am someone who can crush the Alexandra Excalibur machine more easily than Genius crushes me (and I know you own and have played that machine a few times). The games against Genius were no more worthy of print than a game between Garry Kasparov and his victim in a simul. Best I managed in three games was getting to a slight positional disadvantage in an endgame, upon which it outplayed me. In any event, in my opinion instructive chess games do not really exist below the 1900 ELO FIDE level, nor are games instructive at fast time controls at any level - which is what most people are seemingly inclined to use these days.
And just to point out another thing that I mentioned earlier - the machine on it's out of the box levels and at quick time controls is relatively weak - it is rather like the Kaplan / Barnes and Fidelity programs in that respect. So the best chess you will see out of this machine is at the slower time controls, though it is still obviously expert strength at the fast ones (though inclined more often to lose positionally - something that is far more unlikely on slow time controls. Even I have beaten it at fast time controls if I play positional chess and avoid positions where tactics can be exploited. But at the slow time controls, it simply makes it far, far more difficult for the opposing player to get into an advantageous position in the first place).

Yes it does, though I suspect the primary reason for the adjustment was to maintain a subjectively consistent quality of display as the batteries run down. As the batteries wear down in my Genius (admittedly after a heck of a lot of use), I see more value in the contrast adjustment than I would if I were mucking or experimenting with fresh batteries.

By they way, I am surprised that I seem to be the only one who has specifically praised the openings book. Apologies if anyone else has. How do you like these replies as black, for example to the Ruy Lopez on move 3? These are moves Millennium Genius plays regularly and by choice (as distinct from what it knows).
There may be others that it will willingly play and it is just that I have not encountered them yet. But compare that to Genius on the Phone where you get only two possible replies:
3....a6
3....Bb4?!

Well I can truthfully say I defeated my ChessGenius the other night in an impromptu 5 minute game as white in a positional Ruy Lopez and with twice as much time left on my clock.
I will also truthfully say that it would be far harder work for me to get a plus score against it in a series of wildly tactical games.
The Klute offers you the white pieces and the advantage of the first move.
