with these odds ..the Gm seem to be able to draw againt Rybka ..at will

something GM Ehlvest was unable to do

I believe you helped finance the match Steve, am I correct? If so, the computer chess world owes you a debt of gratitude! Kudos!
This match could set the computer chess world on their heads!;As long as GM Joel Benjamin keeps focused.

I checked the Rybka site and over half voted that they would prefer Rybka to win!

A Turning Point in Computer Chess History? Regards,
Terry
hi Terry

no i had nothing to do with this match

but i did contribute already to a possible REMATCH with Gm Benjamin having Draws Odds against Rybka

Rybka would be fully loaded with Noomen book and Table bases but a draw for the GM as black would count as a win in the score table

the rematch is not yet definite though..
alot will depend on the outcome of this match but things are looking good so far

Fingers Crossed Regards
Steve
Ahh...I see. Well I hope our man dismantles Rybka! Well at least win the match

To a Rematch, Assisted by Steve B! Regards,
Terry

This example Harvey gave shows very clearly how far behind engines are in certain situations!

Being up a queen and not being able to beat this human shows a lack of knowledge for Rybka in this special kind of position maybe? How would other engines have played this? Could they have won?

Questions over questions - engine chess definitely is still not perfect!

Sebastian

Somewhere Children are playing...

But tonight there is no joy in Mudville

Rybka was not up a Queen.
Rybka was up a Queen minus a Bishop.
That means "Father" gave a Queen for a Bishop and not for nothing. I guess if he gave a Queen for nothing he would lose the game.

Also i guess that "Father" would not win the game if he didn't play on internet and in the Playchess->Chessbase GUI. If he played in his computer then Rybka would not have to face the internet delay, so perhaps it would not lose on time.

Questions over questions - engine chess definitely is still not perfect!
You do not need Father's game to realize that.
Since they do not know the theoretical result in the starting position, they are not perfect.

I would be satisfied if they could solve the following position. Anyone with a prediction of when approximately engines would be able to announce the following mate? I say not in the next 15 years.....

Round 6 a draw

No f7 pawn for Rybka. GM took a 3x draw. Score now 3.5-2.5 for Rybka.

Interesting

in a Draw Odds Match(with draws as black being scored as a win for the GM) the match score would now be 3.5-2.5 in GM Benjamins favor..

of course there would be no pawn odds

but still...

Food for Thought Regards
