Tournament book

Post by Ramius »

Mac OS Ventura - latest version of HIARCS Pro

I have download and UnZipped both HCS and CTG archives. HCS is 195 Mb and CTG file is 1.0 Gb. When I open the resulting files the prompt indicates they cannot be converted.

Am I missing something ??

Thanks, Bob

To add a CTG you need to add it from the Book Explorer Manage CTG books icon as explained here: https://www.hiarcs.com/hce-pro/manuals/ ... lorer.html

Once in the CTG books dialog add it as follows: https://www.hiarcs.com/hce-pro/manuals/ ... ialog.html

The CTG is then a selectable book from the Book Explorer selector.

The HCS book is for engine usage and you can place that in the Books folder, the engine will use the latest named book there.
Best wishes,
Mark

Thankyou very much !

How do I find Opening Books

Is there a complete manual in PDF format for download

I'm a new user of this program.

Do I need to use the *.hcs file as well ??

Thanks, Bob

You do not need to use the HCS to view and use the CTG book. The CTG opening book will be located where you unzipped it, presumably in the Downloads folder or sub-folder.

The manual is available from the Help->HIARCS Chess Explorer Pro Help menu item.

It is also online here: https://www.hiarcs.com/hce-pro/manuals/mac/HCE-Pro.html

PDF can be downloaded here: https://www.hiarcs.com/hce-pro/manuals/ ... er-Pro.pdf
Best wishes,
Mark
