Dedicated Comp. Collector takes the Plunge with Explorer!

Post by Steve B »

Hi
i installed Explorer to be abe to watch the Upcoming WC live from Japan
Explorer downloaded and installed like a charm!
even for PC Knuckle Heads like me it is very easy to use for recording games, saving games and fen diagrams
very intuitive interface

my question ..
is there a easy way to determine if i am connected online to the Hiarcs server?
i tried something with the opening books but its asking me for a book registration code?

Online Access Requested Regards
Steve

Set up a position with 6 pieces or less and see if it tells you the result! if it does you are online.

I Shall be using Explorer exclusively from now on to record dedicated games, post them here, along with the Fen diagrams

i set up this position
(this fen position was generated by Explorer)

[fen]8/8/4brk1/8/8/2R1K3/8/7n w - - 0 1[/fen]

i am getting an analyis of -6.48
but it does not seem to be connected to the EGTB on the server?

Clicking Around Regards

Steve,
Try making 1 move and it will probably reply with a tb verdict if in engine view. But lets see the first Blincoe v Hiarcs game pasted here try setting the elo to 'match my play' after clicking start a new game v an engine!
The game will certainly be something for a new collectors corner regards,
Harvey
ps. maybe game should be v hiarcs at full strength

i set the view to "Analysis Explorer"
i moved 1.Rd3 and in 1 sec it came back with...

ENDGAME DATA BASE...Black wins in 21 moves after 1..Kg5

terrific stuff Harvey!

as to me playing Hiarcs a Game ..one on one
Well ..cough..

Perhaps a week from next Tuesday Regards

Hi
2.Basic Questions..

1.when i play a game Vs Hiarcs i am not getting the clocks or the times of the moves to display
i have tried all of the Various Explorer modes but no clocks.. and the moves are shown for each player in the game status window but without times

2.also ..during the game is there a way to display the captured pieces or the Piece(Material ) discrepency between the two players ?

Thanks Regards
Steve
