HCE 1.7: Infinite Analysis with several engines possible?

Post by Frank Rahde »

Can I use several engines simultaneous for infinite analysis in HCE?

I did not found such feature as in Chessbase.

Yes you can do this in HCE.

You can run an engine in each open tab.

You will need to be careful to manage the engines so combined they don't use more resources than available or they will slow each other down. So if you have 4 cores on your CPU you could run 4 tabs each running one engine on a single core. You could have each engine try to use 4 cores each but that will be counterproductive as they will get in each others way.
Best wishes,
Mark

Yes, but I can not run more than one engine to the same game position (same database), correct?! If I use a second tab and try to open the same database (game) as in first tab, it does not work ...

Yes, but it is trivial to copy the game to another tab and analyse it there with another engine.

The results can be merged back into the one game notation. You can even merge analysis from other programs like Fritz in this way too.
