Very long line in quick search history

For some reasons I have entered a very long line (some hundred characters I guess) in the quick search line. The problem I have now is that I get a VERY wide window when I create a new game. Way too large for my screen (because of the very long line in the quick search history). Is there a way to reset the history?

Mac Maveriks 10.9.4
HIARCS Chess Explorer 1.7

Ok I've got it. In the terminal application I executed

defaults delete com.hiarcs.HiarcsChessExplorer Search.history

That's it.
