Sorry Tony, we should have played the conditional.

32.Qxd6

If 32...Nc4 then 33.Qb4 Ne3+ 34.Kd2 Nxd1 35.Kxd1

It's not exactly forced, but it's the moves we will play.

36...Qf2+, (Conditional: 37. Kxd3 Rd8+ 38. Bd5 Qf1+), draw offer

Of course, you can reject either the condition or the draw offer or both.

Tony, thanks for the great game. I, for one, will gladly take the draw and run with it. We were unable to beat you, but, one can also say that we are still undefeated. We stayed in book most if not all of the time, but, with your noteworthy expertise and the complexity of this opening, that was probably the best thing to do. Some of the team members even found what appears to be an error in some databases.

Please take a look at the game schedule, http://www.hiarcs.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2224 , and add your comments. Also, there is a future game proposed against you; let us know what you think. If you don't like that game, please propose another. Certainly, if your schedule does not allow for a future game, please let me know.

Thanks Again
James

EDIT: Latest schedule is found on the last page of the link.

Hi Tony,

Great game! Thank you for taking the time to play against us; we anxiously and gratefully await any comments that you may have about some particular junctures in the game. :-)

Have you run in the marathon near Lulea, yet? If so, how did it go?

I'll run ACM (http://www.arcticmarathon.se/eng/index_eng.html) this saturday.
I'll come back to you about the game on a rainy day. The summer have at last arrived to Luleå! :) Pity about the race though :( (hot)

I have to decline from the suggested game. I'll take a summer vacation now. And later on I'll start to prepar for the next tournament, which will be the OS18 qualification for Sweden (board 2).

4.20.46, 11 minutes slower then my worst :(

It was 25° at the start and 28-30 during the race. It must have been 45 in the sun, and there were no clouds.

For a while I hoped to get an injury, so I could quit the race. I don't want to quit just because I'm very tired.

At what tempurature would the marathon be canceled?
It seems dehydration and heat stroke are possible.

Wow, that sounds like a really tough race. Those temperatures would be too high for me to do a 5k (I have canceled my plans to run in races a number of times because of temperatures of that or lower!), let alone marathon. Congratulations on pulling through the whole thing--yes, I definitely know the feeling of "hoping for a graceful exit"!

Anyway, good luck in your future races, and hopefully it will get cooler for you. Things have been the opposite here in the United States--many areas have had their coolest spring/early summer in many decades, and it has been quite nice. Where I am now, though, is quite warm and I have to start my runs early in the morning before it gets to warm and Sun gets too high.

There was a marathon in Minneapolis either last year or the year before where the temperature was getting near 30 C, and they stopped the race after the temperature reached that mark--if runners were not past a certain point at that time, they were simply not allowed to finish. I didn't run in it (I do half-marathons, but not full ones), but some of my friends were there, so that's how I know about it.
