The famous SuperConny

Post by Larry »

Hi all, check out this list of most popular chess comps from the
1977-2000 era:

http://members.chello.at/kispert/ewahlerg.htm

The SuperConny would bring $1000 on ebay, (complete & mint) if there
were not so many of them produced, and if they were not so durable.
The Novags stand the test of time, which keeps their value depressed,
because most of them are still working.
SC had a programmable opening book, and a small rechargable battery
in it, so it would hold a position even when turned off.
Just this afternoon I played a blitz game (5sec/move), Superconny versus
Mach3. SC won.

hi Larry
that link you show is an old one and has long ago been updated
44 collectors worldwide voted including myself(37)

http://www.schachcomputer.at/wahlerg.htm

IIRC the idea was to have collectors vote on which 6 computers they would want in their collection above all others( (even though they might or might not have already had them)

if i had to vote again today 7 years later i guess my last two choices would change though

Yes, I forgot I had this thing. Hardly worth including in the collection, after
all, it's just a $6 flea market special, is'nt it? I think it's the same as the
Novag "Presto", just a different color.
