Collector´s Corner: Monte Carlo & Monte Carlo IV

Post by Jose »

Hi all,

only a few weeks ago i thought that MC and MC IV are same units! I was wrong  - and learn something new :D . But now my final questions to this topic.

Is the only different the processor, the programmer and the opening books? How can i differentiate both from the chassis? Which version, except the MC LE of course, is rarer?

The only different between MC IV and MC LE is the Clock frequency!
Can "we" now generally say that 4Mhz constitutes a Elo of approx. 80 points?

MC Regards José

Hi Jose, Steve

I used to own a Monte Carlo, and when the Monte Carlo IV was released there was a upgrade made available to Monte Carlo owners to upgrade their computer to the IV.

I had this done (by Countrywide Computers) and if I remember correctly it cost 79.00GBP.

My point being that the colour of the wood does not always indicate which of the two it could be!

very good information Darrell
as i mentioned my MC IV and MC are different colors then Nick's so that certainly bears testimony to your post

as an amusing aside
i have in my possession a most unusual computer
it is a COMBINED MC-MCIV with a switch to change between the programs similar to the Elite Premiere

it was not released officially by Mephisto and so it is a modified computer and therefore, sadly, i am not allowed to include it in the collection proper

:P
you always notice my REGARDS comments Jose
:P

i cannot say why the name MC IV but perhaps this will satisfy your curiosity a little

the MC is the same computer as the Super modial and the MCIV is the same as the Super Modial II(except for more MHZ)

so at least the numbers are in a row in this case

ALSO ...the MCIV is very similar to MMIV (again difference in Mhz)

Pitiful Explanation Regards

Yes perhaps there are same roots in your thoughts.

I recognize that this is an old thread topic, but the information is terrific.

Is there any online reviews of the Monte Carlo here? (not the IV)

thanks!
