Palm hotsynching hiarcs
when i try to hotsync my palm it gets to hiarcs and hangs there. the screen on the computer appears to be still running.when i search my desktop i find many hiarch items - which may be tripping over each other. should / can i simply clear the desktop of hiarcs and do a hotsync on the theory that the palm will restore what is necessary? and if that fails a can i download a free replacement of my hiarcs?

As long as you still have your licence key you should be able to redownload it from the website and reinstall it.
