Hi All

I'm with Harvey on the 19.e5 issue, his line looks right ...Nd5 20.Bxg6 hxg6 21.b5 Rc8 and now it's hard to see anything good for White and computer evaluations are dropping

I think it's between 19.g3 which I see quite a few favour, prophylactic stopping Nf4. But I also wonder if 19.b5 is possible, though then I guess Black may well play 19...Nf4 and then we'd have to take it, so 20.Bxf4 Qxf4 and now possible 21.e5 would be okay

I'll spend a bit longer on it and vote later

Cheers - Eric

Hi Eric,

Are you going to publish the game in SS once it's done?

Best regards

Hi again

Not sure about publishing it in Selective Search as it's not really a computer game... or perhaps it is a computer game involving many different engines and just a few humans ;-\

Anyway I'm voting for 19.g3

I think my other line 19.b5 Nf4 (Bc5 may also be possible) 20.Bxf4 Qxf4 21.e5 (the best I can find) but Nd5 and I think that's looking better for Black

I'm still looking at it, but please count me in for 19.g3 if I don't get chance to e-mail again

Thanks - Eric

how about this?
if we win or draw..you publish the game
in the highly unlikely event we lose...no need to publish it
:P

Seems Fair To Me Regards

One line we need to look out for is:

19.g3 Rc8 20.Re1 Bd8!? 21.e5 Nd5 22.Be4 Nc3

Does 20.Nb3 work here?

In fact this looks promising showing a small + for white with Zappa:

1. g3 Rc8 2. Nb3 d5 3. e5 Ne4 4. b5 h6 (4... Bd8 5. Ba5 Nxe5 6. Nxe5 Qxe5 7.
Bxd8 Rxd8 9.Na5) 5. Ba5 h5 6. Qb2 h4 7. Re1 *

can black spoil this with 4.b5 Nxd2

Hiarcs forum v Rybka forum

Post by Eric Hallsworth »

Hi again

I keep looking at the empty g2 square after 19.g3, and the long diagonal a8-h1, and the bishop on b7, and I'm not so keen on it.

I think the main line is 19.g3 Rc8 20.Re1, and now Black has 20...d5, 20...Qa7 or 20...Bd8 which all look quite good for them

I wonder if 19.Re1 is best?! Against anything other than 19.g3 or 19.e5 they are likely to play 19...Nf4, and if so 20.Bxf4 Qxf4, and I'm looking for a decent 21st without much enthusiasm?! Still I prefer the look of this, and maybe a quiet 21.h3 than the g3 line at present

How long have we got please?

In the meantime I change my vote to 19.Re1

Cheers - Eric

We have officially about 35 hours to vote, and realistically about 33 (I waste 2 hours to avoid possible emergencies and/or loses on time.)

Anyway, I still have yet to vote, I'll check Re1 and g3.
