Engine Book questions
in making an "own engine book" is the book file platform independant?
can the same file run for a Mac engine like say Glaurung and a windows engine like say HIARCS or Zappa?

Generally speaking, you cannot change the interface in which a book runs, and certainly not the operating system. For example, a book made in a Chessbase GUI like Fritz, Junior, CB/Shredder, Hiarcs, etc. will not be able to run outside of that GUI, so it cannot run in Chess Assistant, Arena, etc. However, Aquarium will be able to read such books, though not write to them. I would guess that books made in any GUI on a Macintrash will have no prayer of running in Chessbase, etc. There might be exceptions to this, though--others will know more than I do...

Re: Engine Book questions
Yes and no. Some books use endian specific code. So a book made on a PPC may not be compatible with a book made on Intel. Some books made in plain text format use different line endings, so a Windows book may not work on *nix, or Mac without being converted first.Dark Horse wrote:in making an "own engine book" is the book file platform independant?
