Round 4

Post by Harvey Williamson »

Hello All,

That was a long game for me. An hour before I was due to leave for work and a nightshift Erdo told me the guy who does the broadcast had gone missing. So he started pasting me the pgn and I Broadcast it on Playchess.

I then spent 45 minutes driving to work and restarted the broadcast.

I did not realise it would take another 3 hours! The News on the BBC was cancelled due to Chess!

Anyway in the end it was worth it - a great game(if a little long) - and we have a match!!

Best Wishes,

Harvey

This match is probably going to break the Rybka domination in engine chess, if Zappa should deliver more games like the last 2.

I really look forward to see this fish swimming dead on the top of the water

Just think with all the different versions of Rybka being used in this match. If the Zappa team wins, They can say that they beat the best the Rybka team had to offer. 8-)

That looks like what happened in game 3!

Fantastic performance from Zappa, certainly I love the Bg8 Pf7/g6 position.

Game 4 was deeply devious from Erdo who waited for Rybka to self destruct due to Rybka's way too positive eval and the 50 move rule. I remember HIARCS being on the wrong side of this at the 1992 WCCC in Madrid against Cumulus.

And to think Zappa could so easily have drawn game 2.

Can Zapaa really win this match?
Best wishes,
Mark

it would be a small step. because on slower hardware (1 cpu or 2 cpu's) zappa is not equal to rybka. on those machines there is still 100 ELO difference, or ?

Hi Steve,

10 rounds winner takes all $10,000 - if its 5-5 they split the money.

Looking good for Zap Regards,

Thanks Harvey
so all Zappa needs is 2 points out the next 5 to take home the bacon

if Rybka loses (which appears likely.).i am expecting a mass exodus of loyal Rybka fans from the Rybka forum to the Hiarcs Forum

are we set up to take on another 300-400 Members?

perhaps we should have nurses ,cots and medical supplies ready here for the critically wounded?

Isn't the problem one of scaling....Zappa is simply better tuned for that?

If so, then Vas needs to fix that problem, then Rybka will be untouchable!

So it appears Rybka is being scaled by Zappa! Regards,
Terry
