Hiarcs Palm 9.6 on my T3, ALWAYS plays in zero seconds ! ?

Hello to everybody !
I am very happy to discover this new chess Palm forum.
6 month ago I bought a Palm T3 for only one reason : Improve my chess skill, with the "human like chess style" of Hiarcs 9.x
BUT very soon my hiarcs program began to play in Zero seconds Every move, in Every situation.
I so was very disappointed, because I thought I could improve my level with the genious fonction of Elo Rating, beginning with 1600, and 1700, etc..
SAD, all the pleasure of the 1600 Elo like machine thinking, has disappeared.
Because, I can't thinking myself 3 or 4 minutes when the Computers is ALWAYS responding immediatly !!
I can't anymore "imagine", that I'v got an human-being-like in front of me.
And excuse me for my poetry style, but I'm obsess with this "Awful Bug".

So, my question is : " Is the new forthcoming 9.7 release going to correct this bug, or will I be forced to give up Palm chess ??

(For information, I tried of course to reinstall several times Hiarcs 9.6, and even, hiarcs 9.5
And I have been testing a lot of possibilities in the menus, levels and so on)

PLEASE, HELP ME Mister Marck Uniacke.
Cos I'm sure you'v got the solution to my problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first question has to be have you purchased the full version of Hiarcs for Palm? If you have and you still have a problem please email Mark at Hiarcs support.

Hello !

I have the same "problem" that hiarcs is too fast. If I play 40/60 hiarcs need 1 to 3 second for the game !
I hope it is only a thing to change parameters...

it works pretty fine on my t3.
did you setup the level right ?
did you buy the version so that it is NOT limited to a demo mode ??

-it worked well on my z22 so far.
-it is the full version (I bought it)

-I setup the level in this way:
Hiarcs
Level
Time control preset
then I choose under "Preset" : 40/60

I think that is right ?!

If I play then, Hiarcs needs only some seconds of the 60 minutes for 40 moves. What is wrong ?

Before anyone asks, yes I do have the registered version.

It does this same thing on my Treo 650. It will take some time when set at the higher levels, but just doesn't need it at the lower ones.
I can't really complain about it playing so well that fast. No human can play so fast and it is kind of strange not getting to do some analysis on my opponent's time.
But as long as it plays as good as it does I am happy.

maybe you have to register again if you change from one palm to another.
lets say you had a key for palm zire22 and it worked.
now you change the machines.
to tungsten t3. and you would maybe need another key for this machine.

i guess you should ask the support .
i would do so.

Hello again

First of all, I have bought the legal and genuine Hiarcs 9.3, and received my registration code.

I had an answer of Marck Uniacke, and the problem should be resolved in a major release, and not the minor 9.7
(And thank you Mister Uniacke for your fast answer

)

BUT something remains very strange...
I remember playing with Hiarcs 9.6, WITH the ELO function and WITH a LONG time limit.
AND IT WAS WORKING.
And One day, the computer began to play immediatly ! ! !
And this phenomenon never ended...

SO I'm really PUZZLED NOW

Anyone has a solution ? ? ?

On the Set Elo levels HIARCS is able to achieve the required Elo strength very quickly and that is why it moves so fast. The advantage of this is that it significantly saves battery power and is an important reason why it is worth having a stronger program like Hiarcs rather than having a weaker program having to use the cpu 100% for a minute or two to reach the Elo level when Hiarcs can do it in seconds.

However, I accept the point from an aesthetic point of view it is nice to have your opponent taking its time. So in the next major update I will make an option for this. I will make Palm Hiarcs sleep intermittently while thinking so the battery is saved and you get the longer thinking times. It will of course be optional so those who do not want to wait don't have to!

There was talk that the new version of Hiarcs for Palm PDA will be released in the Autumn of 2007 which is for all you Northern Hemisphere people.This I geuss means sometime between September 21 and December 21 2007.Is this still a viable target.If it is anything like the Rybka development then it still could be over a year away.

9.7 will be free and stronger. we have not decided how much the brand new version will cost!
